To think my sister is a flipping genius

I send my sister today what she and the kids usually leave out for Santa as my daughter hassaid this year she doesn’t think we should be leaving beer for Santa as he has to drive 🥲

So my sister tells her kids that Santa sends her a message with what he would like to eat and the kids prepare it. Aka, the kids prepare my sister and her husbands elaborate banquet for the evening. This year the kids have done a big cheese board with chutneys, pre-buttered crackers, pate and ham! They will sit and scoff the cheese board and wrap presents.

genius. Can’t believe I’ve never thought of this.

Genius

Cuppasoupmonster · 24/12/2022 20:14

I wasn’t aware a child of ‘Santa believing’ age could prepare such a meal but that’s the pedant in me!

MerryChristmasToYou · 24/12/2022 20:14

YANBU

ItsACrater · 24/12/2022 20:14

How old are the kids that they can do this and still believe in Santa?

Boooooot · 24/12/2022 20:14

6 and 8. My 8 year old still believes too.

Let’s be real here, a five year old could gather together various cheeses and chutneys and a plate for ‘Santa’ with some gentle suggestions as to what he might like!

That's genius!! Wish I'd thought of that. Instead I've baked cookies and forgot rudolfs carrot so trying to convince the kids that a potato is a good substitute.

We’ve just realised that we’ve chopped all our carrots up for tomorrow so Rudolph will have to have a mince pie too!

Santa loves a nice single malt here.

SingingSands · 24/12/2022 20:26

That's brilliant. I'm going to ask my 14yr old if he's like to do that same. His sister has gone to the pub so it'll be a solo effort 😄

GettingItOutThere · 24/12/2022 20:27

one santa told mine he likes beer.

Thanks for that santa, cheers!

xmaslurgy · 24/12/2022 20:28

No I think it’s lovely I’m just surprised an under 8 year old can be trusted to prepare such a meal!

Brilliant 🤣 please post updates !

Britinme · 24/12/2022 20:42

It used to be a mince pie and a glass of single malt in our house when the kids were Santa-believing age.

Squarerootofpi · 24/12/2022 20:42

My childhood santa enjoyed a can of Super Tennants and a joint. My parent was awful! 🤣

I mean it is pretty bad but I am creased 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

CaptainBarbosa · 24/12/2022 20:44

When DS believed, he's 8 this year and does not.

He would leave for Santa, a Moscow mule (vodka and ginger beer) and some salted peanuts, with some chopped up apple for the reindeer 😂😂

The reason was, by the time he got to Wales, he'd probably had enough mince pies milk and cookies, so wanted some ginger to settle his stomach, the vodka to warm him up, and the peanuts to graze on 😂😂

Reindeer also like a variety, carrots all night would be boring. 😂

Hummusanddipdip · 24/12/2022 20:45

Making note of this for next year, ds almost independently decorated a gingerbread house today, dh just constructed it. He's 4 next year, I think he could do a little platter of food 🤣

Please let us know how you get on with your 14 year old @SingingSands

sanityisamyth · 24/12/2022 20:46

I drank the whole bottle of mulled wine tonight ... so Santa is having chocolate milkshake tomorrow!

Newwardrobe · 24/12/2022 20:47

My dd always believed Father Christmas liked Bacardi Breezers , cheese and crackers and cheese and onion crisps .
