With flu this Christmas Eve! It's utterly miserable, day 5 and I've not even finished wrapping as I've not got out of bed since Monday. Dizzy, nausea, headache, aching, pure exhaustion. Never had a virus like it.
I've got 2 young DC and it's bloody Christmas Eve!! 😢 please tell me I'm not the only one!

I'm on the sofa feeling like I've been dug up! My 2 Dds are 12 and 9 and entertaining themselves. Luckily I've wrapped everything and dont have to cook tomorrow.

hiredandsqueak · 24/12/2022 12:03

I was ill for a month with some sort of lurgy (not covid as I tested multiple times) I have never been so ill in my life. It's only in the last week I've felt better after spending three weeks moving between bed and sofa. Hope you feel better soon.

Tattyoldted · 24/12/2022 12:07

I’m sat on my bed, managed to shower and dress but feel worse for it. Just want to climb back into bed. Not covid, I just tested. Feeling shivery and sick. Second year running that I’ve been ill at Christmas.

xogossipgirlxo · 24/12/2022 12:08

No flu here, but both with cold. We cancelled our Christmas visit to FIL. He’s gutted, but can’t imagine driving for 3 hours and then spending 2 days not being able to lie down with 37.5-38C. I can’t even take too much paracetamol, because I’m pregnant, so my options are very limited.

FrodisCapering · 24/12/2022 12:08

Same here. Day four. I have a three year old and a two year old. Luckily I had done all the wrapping but my husband has had to do all practical childcare and food shopping.
My mum is ill too. She's on day 11. We both keep thinking we are getting better but then the fever starts again. Absolutely knackered. Bad cough. Headache. To top it all off I was sick last night

Idontdoyoga · 24/12/2022 12:10

I’m in bed too. Feel absolutely awful & know I’m heading down the chest infection route. Don’t know what to do about lunch tomorrow because my chap had chosen to become useless in the kitchen. I almost have to beg for food when I’m too sick to make it myself.

I’m exhausted from helping with a family house move too. Weeks of sorting, ditching, packing up, stress on completion day last Tuesday (inept solicitors) and now not really looking fwd to helping them settle in to new place.
Im drained.

Stressedmum2017 · 24/12/2022 12:12

It's a bloody joke isn't it. Had flu 3/4 weeks ago, ended up with secondary infection from that got antibiotics, finished antibiotics but it still wasn't cleared up and boom flu again this week. I'm gutted.

Hahahahohoho · 24/12/2022 12:19

I'm on the sofa - can't sleep, so bed is pointless - went upstairs earlier and nearly collapsed being out of breath - really quite scary...as long as I stay put I'm not too bad. Had this since Tuesday - and I'm very bored! But on Tuesday I felt it coming on so I did all the things I had to do for Christmas and the family will cook.

Leakingtoilet · 24/12/2022 12:25

I'm on the sofa, alternating between shivering and sweating. DP just asked if he could get me anything and I burst into tears. Every part of me hurts. We've all had/got it, but I was last so the others are recovering now at least

YellowHpok · 24/12/2022 12:42

I am day 6. Have missed all the lovely social things this week, including theatre trip with the kids. Thankfully family took them so they've not missed out. I am gutted tho. Everything I'd wrapped as I made the mistake of leaving it last minute one year then was SO ILL.

I am dressed and trying to tidy as the house is a show, but it has taken me an hour to change one bed and I keep needing to lie down.

You're definitely not the only one OP!!

lynthesearesexpeople · 24/12/2022 12:48

I would be if it wasn’t for 2 year old dd.

I’ve been ill for 12 days. I had anti biotics as I’ve had pneumonia twice - the dr I saw this time thankfully wanted to try and stop that in its tracks. So I am far better than last week but I am still wiped out.

The children are all better at least.

TheHound86 · 24/12/2022 12:50

I have something nasty like this. Awful fever sweats, nasty cough, hurts to breathe and cough, just really unwell. Hardly been able to move. Had to call in sick to work today and they’ve been awful. I’m feeling pretty down. Sorry to hear others are suffering too.

switswoo81 · 24/12/2022 12:51

Me too..I normally have a cast iron immune system after 20 years as an infant teacher, even COVID was just a blip.but this shit is unbelievable. Literally can't lift my head off the pillow . 2 young kids and feel so guilty.

fucketyfuckwit · 24/12/2022 12:53

Yes! I have Covid. I'm not in bed now but on the sofa with a heated throw. Watching the new season of Emily in Paris.

The house is a mess, but seeing as DH was sick early on the week with Covid it was inevitable that I would come down with it. Luckily I did all my food shopping and wrapped all my presents. But the house is not clean!!

Yep, this is worse than when I had covid last year.

First 36 hours it was high temperature with rigors, all over joint pain, the works! I’m in my 40s and I can’t recall ever having felt so bad, even when I had actual pneumonia it wasn’t that bad!

User963 · 24/12/2022 12:56

Me! On day 5. Spent day 1 in bed and then day 2-4 we’re just a cough But today I feel really ill and congested again. Maybe I did too much yesterday hoovering and shopping (with an ffp2 mask btw)

OhPeggySue · 24/12/2022 12:56

There are several BILLION people on this planet. How would it even be possible that you're the only one experiencing literally ANYTHING right now. You could be naked, tied to a lamppost in your local highstreet by pieces of carefully aged ham slices and you STILL wouldn't be the only person on this earth experiencing the same thing. Its winter, bug season, after a 2 year lockdown.....EVERYONE is fucking poorly in some form or another right now. The whole of mumsnet is discussing it constantly. It's impossible to bloody well miss it.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 24/12/2022 12:56

I've just tested positive for Covid - all Xmas plans are off, so fed up

mimi0708 · 24/12/2022 12:58

You're not alone OP. I feel miserable with this bug, worst I've felt. It's making me feel like I just want Christmas to be over now.

30ishiwish · 24/12/2022 13:01

Day 8 here.
DH and I have identical symptoms - high temp, aches, cough, headache etc. I started with symptoms before my DH who has tested positive for Covid. I’m negative. Mil has also tested positive.

Someone got out on the wrong side of bed this morning Grin

Babymamma192 · 24/12/2022 13:07

Day 2 for me. In bed and aching everywhere! Shooting pains in my joints and didn't sleep a wink last night because I can't get comfy at all.

Gutted to hear your on day 5 was hoping to be feeling better sooner than that!

Not covid as I did a test yesterday. Didn't feel this bad when I had covid and I'm thinking maybe it's flu I've never felt so rough!

Fortunately my sister has picked my 2 + 3 year old's up and is keeping them for the day.

SomethingOriginal2 · 24/12/2022 13:08

DS and I have had it for about a month. He took a turn last night and I had to take him to hospital, chest and ear infection. To top it off the doctor was a condescending arse who clearly thought I was useless. Merry Christmas!

ManAboutTown · 24/12/2022 13:09

I've been coming home from work and often going straight to bed since the start of the month. Have a chesty cough for the same period - many I work with in the same boat. On the flip side I don't have young kids to look after and have picked up a fair bit in last 36 hours or so

Rosesandteacups · 24/12/2022 13:11

Tested positive for Covid today. 31 weeks pregnant and got diagnosed with gestational diabetes 2 weeks ago so can’t even eat my sorrows away. My dd is 4 on Boxing Day so I’ve ruined that too. So so upset. Dh and dd have gone to my mums without me for lunch and i feel like I want to check out of life
