With flu this Christmas Eve! It's utterly miserable, day 5 and I've not even finished wrapping as I've not got out of bed since Monday. Dizzy, nausea, headache, aching, pure exhaustion. Never had a virus like it.
I've got 2 young DC and it's bloody Christmas Eve!! 😢 please tell me I'm not the only one!

I was up and ready to potter around gearing up for putting a lot of effort in for tomorrow, but now feeling a bit deflated by some work crap and dh making a dig at me. Trying not to sulk and hiding under my electric blanket.

confusedlots · 24/12/2022 13:17

DH is in bed which is so unlike him! Negative for Covid. I'm wondering if it's flu. This is the first day he's feeling ill so I'm guessing he won't be suddenly feeling better tomorrow! Meant to be going to in laws for Christmas Day, currently trying to decide if I make a quick supermarket dash to get some bits in and try to make the most of it ourselves at home

Greyarea12 · 24/12/2022 13:18

I was reading a thread last night where there was quite alot of people with flu. I'm in Scotland and our local hospital has ran out of beds. It's been on the news here that flu cases are the highest they have ever been here. I hope you feel better soon, it's shit being ill at Christmas.

Plantmoretrees86 · 24/12/2022 13:27

Yep. Day 4 of covid here and with a 5 month old baby I'm not even getting much rest. DH is positive too, we're sharing the load as much as we can, but as she's ebf he can only do so much. Still, at least I'm not worrying about cleaning the house now as all our plans have been cancelled and my mum has kindly dropped off turkey and trifle for tomorrow. But feeling crap and very disappointed about baby's first Christmas. Hope everyone feels better soon.

Goldieshock · 24/12/2022 13:42

Day 12 of it and it's shite! Feel better when Sat doing nothing but there's things to do and kids to be cheerful for. Rotten timing and wish I had a few more days for it to clear before Christmas Day ☹️

Wishing everyone well very soon

C1239 · 24/12/2022 14:02

Is anyone else finding that paracetamol is making no difference?! Gutted to be feeling like this at Christmas, don’t know how to shake it off!

GooglyEyeballs · 24/12/2022 14:03

I've spent the last 3 days in a blanket on the sofa popping ibuprofen and drinking lemsip. I feel ya.

C1239 · 24/12/2022 14:04

What’s everyone doing about their plans for tomorrow?

AllOfThemWitches · 24/12/2022 14:09

I'm able to move about a bit more today but have had to cancel Christmas plans to see family tomorrow because I'm so rough. When you say 'dizzy' do you mean like room spinning dizzy? That's what I've had and for about a week or so leading up to being ill.

There are several BILLION people on this planet. How would it even be possible that you're the only one experiencing literally ANYTHING right now. You could be naked, tied to a lamppost in your local highstreet by pieces of carefully aged ham slices and you STILL wouldn't be the only person on this earth experiencing the same thing. Its winter, bug season, after a 2 year lockdown.....EVERYONE is fucking poorly in some form or another right now. The whole of mumsnet is discussing it constantly. It's impossible to bloody well miss it.

OMG! How do you know my evening plans?

Leakingtoilet · 24/12/2022 14:09

I've not even been able to get lemsip as everywhere is sold out. Painkillers not helping much anyway. The best I have found is the Beecham's powder with aspirin.

Fortunately, no plan beyond immediate household tomorrow, but not sure what to do about boxing day plans

Wellthankyou · 24/12/2022 14:10

Yep feeling rubbish here .Headache, tickle persistent cough; ribs hurting from coughing .

MyPenIsHuge · 24/12/2022 14:14

Pneumonia ... so yeah I'm in bed watching shite on YouTube.

Pl242 · 24/12/2022 14:24

Took to my bed yesterday with a fever. Had an absolutely banging head. Couldn’t open my eyes. Feeling slightly better today but still have a fever and feel pretty ropey. Covid test was clear. Hope I’ll feel better for tomorrow. But staying with my parents so luckily they are on the case with food and my DH is looking after kids and wrapping.

Vicliz24 · 24/12/2022 14:25

I'm on day 8 had 3 days in bed then felt much better yesterday. Went to bed at 10.:30 only to be woken at 11.30 my a throbbing ear . Sat up all night and at 4.30 am it popped and fluid came out . Went up to our local hospital first thing to find an ear infection has perforated my ear drum!! So not happy and so grumpy from no sleep. Hopefully the antibiotics will sort me out fast .

Coasterfan · 24/12/2022 14:27

I m not ill as such but i have plantar facilitis and it’s agony, I have nt been able to do or get anywhere near as much as I have wanted to and I m currently sat on the floor in h and m crying in agony while DD buys clothes. We have been in town since 11am and my car is miles away and I don’t actually think I can walk back to it! Hope everyone feels a bit better by tomorrow!

Blueisthecolour1 · 24/12/2022 14:31

I think it’s flu. I came down with it two weeks ago & was awful with it. First four days my head just exploded, my nose was streaming day & night. Chills, headache, fever.

2nd week = sinus pain/inflammation & exhaustion on a whole new level, and now a really persistent cough that’s driving me mad, keeping me awake at night. I’m ok if I don’t cough but once I start, I literally can’t stop - there’s this aggravating tickle right at the back of my throat that’s been there for about four days now & it just won’t go away no matter what medicine I take. Still tired, still drained & lethargic. Kids had it & DH was so poorly with it he just took to bed for five days & didn’t come out. I’ve had flu before but this is the worst I’ve ever experienced

amberglass92 · 24/12/2022 14:51

38 weeks pregnant, had a really tough pregnancy with anaemia/ covid/ sickness/ exhaustion and now down with flu. On day 3 in bed. DS on school holidays. DH had to take time off which will come off paternity leave. Have had fever with chills/ sickness/ sweats, can barely keep anything down and when the baby kicks it makes me puke even more. It’s carnage here. My hospital bags are only half packed and I can’t make it out of bed to finish. I can’t stop crying/ worrying about the baby/ how on earth I will find strength to Labour or look after a newborn. I feel utterly out of resources mental and physical and nothing is ready. Have also had to miss all the lovely plans I made for this supposed calm before the baby storm with my DS. Was already so worried about the birth after I had a traumatic and long one first time round, now I just feel devoid of all hope. Everything hurts and I’m frightened.

PatchworkElmer · 24/12/2022 14:55

Same. DH has taken DC out to burn off some energy. Trying to muster the strength to do a bit of baking with DC later. Luckily DC had this last week so I anticipated feeling awful and got the wrapping done. Hope everyone is better soon xx
