Is this a Christmas gift that will just get unused?

I am thinking about getting a Neck Massager, Back Massager with Heat, Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager, Shoulder Massager for Christmas.

My husband thinks this is just a Christmas gift that will just get unused.

I think it looks great

Who is right?

Plus I need to know which brand to go for.

Does anyone have good or bad experience of
VIKTOR JURGEN, or Deestop, or Essy, or iKristin or RENPHO please?

They are all about the same price, Habe good reviews, and I'd like to know what is good!

Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

It wouldn't be used by me, I'm afraid. But then I would never have wanted one in the first place!

DilemmaDelilah · 10/12/2022 13:50

The idea is great and my husband got one for me, but I found it really.uncomfortable to use, just hard lumps digging into me. I got rid of it.

Claireintheclouds · 10/12/2022 13:51

100% a gift you’ll use twice and then leave in a wardrobe for the next 7 years

NamelessTemptress01 · 10/12/2022 13:55

I was gifted one, never use it

elQuintoConyo · 10/12/2022 14:06

No, like a pp Id use it twice, perhaps three times, then it'd waste away in a cupboard.

stuntbubbles · 10/12/2022 14:07

That’s a “will turn up at a car boot sale in a few months” gift.

merryhouse · 10/12/2022 14:35

Why have you given it four names? Almost as if you're on Amazon or Ebay and are shoving in search terms. I don't think that's how people read Mumsnet...

Athenen0ctua · 10/12/2022 14:36

I wouldn't use one

NEmama · 10/12/2022 14:37

Use the money for real massage

Elieza · 10/12/2022 14:40

I had a massage gun thing that was basically a hammer drill with a tennis ball on the end. It did work but I barely used it.

I agree re using the money to go for an actual massage. So perhaps a voucher for a local spa treatment would be better? I had one recently and it was bliss.

viques · 10/12/2022 14:41

Last night I happened to watch the Black Books episode where they get asked to house sit a friends house and drink the wine, oops spoiler alert, but the funniest part is the bit when Manny ( played by Bill Bailey) is very un pc with a massager and holds it to his chest like breasts and caresses it, all the time asking Bernie to look at him . If you watch it , available on channel 4 streaming , you will never want to look a shiatsu massage machine in the face again.

edwinbear · 10/12/2022 14:48

I’ve got one and use mine a lot (I’ve had it years so can’t remember the brand), but I have a neck condition which does leave me in pain. It’s brilliant for that, not sure I’d use one otherwise. It definitely can’t be compared to an actual massage.

Justcallmebebes · 10/12/2022 14:58

Probably like the foot spa I really, really wanted and have used once in a year. My 7yr old DGC loves it tho

ChessieFL · 10/12/2022 14:59

I’ve got one and I hardly use it because the massagy bits never seem to line up with the bits of my neck/shoulders that need massaging.

Username6194 · 10/12/2022 15:16

As someone who owns one. Purchased by myself, I've used it a max of 5 times in over a year

BellePeppa · 10/12/2022 15:17

I would use it! I’ve got a back massager and a foot one and use them a lot. I’d love the whole massage chair really but they’re too expensive.

"Neck Massager, Back Massager with Heat, Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager, Shoulder Massager" yeah I had to work out what this bit was about

MassiveSalad22 · 10/12/2022 15:19

I wouldn’t buy this as a gift as it’s quite unpersonal really - unless the recipient has asked for it?

I have a renpho foot massager and a renpho back massager/wand thing and both are great quality and powerful.

Just to add that I do use a cushion (cheap thinnish one) between me and the back massager as it can be a bit painful otherwise (unless you like really prodding Swedish style massages).

marrymeadam · 10/12/2022 15:22

We have one and as I have 2 DDs that are very sporty we use it a lot

palygold · 10/12/2022 15:26

I'd like it I think.

Michellebops · 10/12/2022 15:32

We have one and use it lots.
I still suffer from a whiplash injury and struggle with my neck. This helps a lot
I use it 1-2 times per week for 10/15 minutes

badbaduncle · 10/12/2022 15:42

I use mine every day

Italiangreyhound · 10/12/2022 16:02

merryhouse that is what it was called on Amazon.
