To ask what a normal reaction to dog poo would be?

I have ocd and I struggle to know what's a normal reaction and what's ocd-
If your 5 year old stepped in dog poo, but you didn't notice until the next day (not loads about a 20p size amount but could have been more and been walked off I suppose)- so they would have been at school with it still on their shoe and they grab the sole of their shoe when putting shoes on.
would you clean their shoes and leave it at that?
clean their shoes and stick their coat and bag in the washing machine (because they'd likely have touched the shoe and then coat etc) and wipe over the back seat in the car where they were kicking the seat with said shoes on whilst sat in the car seat?

I’d do all of the above

RoseAndRose · 09/12/2022 21:47

I'd just clean the shoes.

VogueDarling · 09/12/2022 21:47

Clean shoe

Scrub hands
Wipe down coat with an anti bac wipe!

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/12/2022 21:47

I have ocd and severe issues with everything being hygienically clean and sensory issues with dirt and smells so I’d probably boil wash the car seat if I could 😂 probably use the spot wash on it aswell

Munchyseeds2 · 09/12/2022 21:47

I would probably just clean the shoes to be honest

piedbeauty · 09/12/2022 21:49

A tiny bit of dog poo that nobody could smell? Wash shoes and scrub hands.

If the car doesn't smell at all, then leave it. Nobody will be licking the seats anyway.

leithreas · 09/12/2022 21:49

Just clean the shoes.

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/12/2022 21:49

Buy everything new 😅

NosyNeighbour22 · 09/12/2022 21:50

I’d probably clean the shoes and check it hadn’t got in the car! Wouldn’t clean anything else unless there was evidence of it being contaminated!

He puts his feet up high and also puts his hands in the seat, and he constantly has his hands in his mouth so I'm worried about him getting germs or worm eggs from the poo in his mouth

Ask husband to clean shoe.
Think no more of it.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 09/12/2022 21:51

Clean the shoes, wash my hands, job done

carefulcalculator · 09/12/2022 21:52

I would clean the shoe, wash hands, check the rest and take action only if anything found.

I do understand the worry, I have to wrestle my brain not to think about these things!

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/12/2022 21:55

RoseAndRose · 09/12/2022 21:47

I'd just clean the shoes.

This would be enough unless you believed any had actually come off on anything else. I think you would be able to see it.

girlmom21 · 09/12/2022 21:56

I'd wash the shoes and check the car seats.

If you're thinking about everything he's touched in the last 24 hours you'd be washing everything.

Itsabitnotcold · 09/12/2022 21:58

Flick the poo off with a stick and use a wet wipe to wipe the bit that had poo on. Purely because of the smell. I presume that there ate remnants of poo all over the floor and therefore shoes. Unless theres visible and smellable poo I wouldn't clean anything specially.

surreygirl1987 · 09/12/2022 22:00

I'd clean everything. Dog poo is vile.

pizzaHeart · 09/12/2022 22:05

I don’t have OCD but don’t like germs and dirt. I would clean the shoe, wipe the car, check under his nails ( maybe cut them if I’m checking them anyway) and wash his hands more vigorously in the nail area. I never washed coat or bag in these situations but wiping bag’s handle with a anti bac wipe would probably be a good idea.
I would also check your hall near the front door. It’s me talking from bitter experience when my DD stepped into small dog’s poo and it somehow ended up all over the beige carpet and dried out. It’s very difficult to clean away.

morbidd · 09/12/2022 22:07

God I'd probably have a breakdown and throw everything out. I'm really OCD about dog poo.

Notanotherone6 · 09/12/2022 22:13

You'd better buy a new car, just incase.

Tripsabroad · 09/12/2022 22:13

I'd wash the shoes and do a sniff test to see if the rest needed cleaning.

alasangne · 09/12/2022 22:15

Chuck out shoes and buy new car is what I'd like to do. In reality I think wipe the car down or take to a valet

Remaker · 09/12/2022 22:15

I’d clean the shoe. But I maintain there is no amount of dog poo so small that it can’t be smelt. It’s the worst smell ever.

Orangesatsuma · 09/12/2022 22:20

I’d probably clean the whole lot! I’d hate dc getting germs from touching stuff that had come into contact with dog poo
