To think my Oodie is fake?

Hi, sorry if this isn’t okay to put in AIBU, I’m new here I’m looking to hear from anyone that has an official oodie and have lurked and seen some threads on here previous about them so thought use might be able to help.

I bought a brand new sealed oodie from a seller on Vinted, they had multiple different ones listed, said they were left over from an event seller has around 100 good reviews and all listed oodies were brand new and sealed.

It has just arrived and I feel like it may be fake,
it feels really thin and the neck looks different to the one pictured on the oodie website I have attached some pictures of mine and the one from the website.
I have one of the fake £20 ones from primark and the fake one is way thicker/comfier and definitely more warm, I’m actually cold in the apparent official one, it feels really low quality.

If you have one that was purchased from the oodie website can I ask how the material inside feels? Is it thick and warm? Does the neck of yours look like mine?

I just feel disappointed because I have heard so many good things about them and heard people say how good they are for winter but it’s no warmer than a basic thin jumper.

The pictures attached are to show what the necks look like as I think mine definitely looks different to the one pictured on the website.

My oodie which was purchased directly from oodie is really thick and warm

JusteanBiscuits · 07/12/2022 17:56

When you order from Oodie website, it comes in an Oodie branded bag. The quality is excellent, and the hood joins at the front, not with a gap. I actually over heat in mine so passed it down to son!

Turmerictolly · 07/12/2022 17:56

They're very thick with a sheepskin type lining (only softer). The neck is quite tight

imaginationhasfailedme · 07/12/2022 17:56

My oodie bought direct is very thick and, dare I say it, sometimes too hot. The inside is thick fluffy sherpa fleece. Not at home to check the neck bit but can later!

SpicyFoodRocks · 07/12/2022 17:58

I can’t really tell from your photos. But the V of the neck is quite low on my genuine Oodie if that helps. It’s also really heavy. Definitely thicker than a thin jumper.

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 17:58

It came in a oodie fabric bag but the neck is just so wide and the overall quality makes me think it’s a fake

The V of the neckline on yours looks faulty, Oodie or not.

SheWoreYellow · 07/12/2022 18:00

Can you measure the length? It says the real ones are 98cm from shoulder to hem.

Anyone selling multiple of a highly-desired product on Vinted is quite likely to be selling fakes. Sorry.
Make sure you don't click the 'everything is ok' button in your order and report it to Vinted as fake.

AriettyHomily · 07/12/2022 18:01

Why would a Vinted seller have hundreds of oodies to sell?

Abraxan · 07/12/2022 18:01

This is the neckline in my oodie, bought direct from their site.

It's finished in a v shape and the seams aren't as rough as the photograph you listed seems.

It's also incredibly thick and warm - I get too warm in it and have to remove it after a while!

Might be fake or a reject. Some people manage to get hold of reject stock and sell it on.

SpicyFoodRocks · 07/12/2022 18:02

I think your instincts are correct OP.

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 18:02

They didn’t have hundreds they had around 6, apparently left over from an event. I will get a tape measurer tomorrow and measure length.

The grey behind the v is a pj top, not part of the oodie.

MadeForThis · 07/12/2022 18:03

The 5poundstuff website sold a load of oodies a few weeks ago. They apparently buy seconds from Oodie and resell them. They detailed for about £14 plus postage.

They had an otter, a reindeer and an avocado last time.

I think they are genuine but seconds. Patterns weren't cut correctly etc and some smelled.

Some people had them delivered with the tags cut off. Some had the tags intact and came with the oodie bag and ribbon.

It's possible your seller bought them from th 5poundstuff website?

I didn't say hundreds. I bet as soon as one is sold they list some more. What sort of event? Don't Oodie only sell direct? Sounds highly suspicious.

Someone else said hundreds

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 18:11

So I’ve just gone on and scrolled through all his/her reviews and they have reviews from people who bought oodies of them 3 months ago , but the most event ones they have listed are only 5/6 days old. They said left over from on an event on the listing if the one I purchased so looks like it was possibly lies.

Looks fake. And very thin! 😟 Sorry

Spenn · 07/12/2022 18:14

How much was it? It doesn't look like a real one. :(

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 18:15

The otter one was £45 and the other ones they had listened ranged from £55-£65 I bought the otter one as it was cheapest, thought maybe it was just a less desirable print.

OP posts:
Hooverphobe · 07/12/2022 18:16

Why is your otter holding a sushi roll and grinning?

Just4ThisThread · 07/12/2022 18:19

I have this exact Otter Oodie bought from their own website a couple years ago, don’t think they sell this one anymore. I don’t have another to compare to but after wearing a couple weeks I was disappointed and didn’t find it as cosy as my Primark one so it’s been relegated to dog blanket, attaching a photo so you can see - remember it’s a dog blanket now hence the disgustingness 😬

I have no clue 😂 I don’t even like bloody otters or sushi but it was the cheapest one lol
