To think my Oodie is fake?

Hi, sorry if this isn’t okay to put in AIBU, I’m new here I’m looking to hear from anyone that has an official oodie and have lurked and seen some threads on here previous about them so thought use might be able to help.

I bought a brand new sealed oodie from a seller on Vinted, they had multiple different ones listed, said they were left over from an event seller has around 100 good reviews and all listed oodies were brand new and sealed.

It has just arrived and I feel like it may be fake,
it feels really thin and the neck looks different to the one pictured on the oodie website I have attached some pictures of mine and the one from the website.
I have one of the fake £20 ones from primark and the fake one is way thicker/comfier and definitely more warm, I’m actually cold in the apparent official one, it feels really low quality.

If you have one that was purchased from the oodie website can I ask how the material inside feels? Is it thick and warm? Does the neck of yours look like mine?

I just feel disappointed because I have heard so many good things about them and heard people say how good they are for winter but it’s no warmer than a basic thin jumper.

The pictures attached are to show what the necks look like as I think mine definitely looks different to the one pictured on the website.

Is there an oodie label on there - they are located half way up the edge of the pocket?

ImAnExcavator · 07/12/2022 18:22

5poundstuff have been selling them for months but they don't advertise which brand it is. Think I paid around £13 in the summer. Some orders turned out to be oodies and others kuddlys. A lot of people were saying they weren't as good quality as ones they have bought directly from the company, however loads cheaper!
I agree with the theory further up that they bought lots to sell on!

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 18:23

Yes there is a white oodie tag on side of pocket

Mines very thick I have to take off but I love it.

buckeejit · 07/12/2022 18:30

Do the cuffs feel long & tight & cold? I think it's a seconds-I bought this one from the 5pound site & mine was a second & a bit shorter than my oodie direct.

I think it will be cosy enough if you like it ok. They are fab.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but those of you with genuine Oodies - do they wash well? I've found that sherpa fleece goes all flat and hard after a few washes.

Hugasauras · 07/12/2022 18:34

Real Oodies are definitely not thin! They are very thick. I get too warm in mine frequently and have to take it off. They feel thick and heavy.

Mine has washed great.

Hugasauras · 07/12/2022 18:34

Although I do tumble dry which might keep the fluffiness.

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 18:38

The cuffs actually feel really good quality, thick and quiet tight around the wrists, but the cuffs are the only part that feels good quality. I still plan on keeping it just disappointed as was hoping it would be really cosy and warm for the cold nights.

The real ones are so over priced.

I just bought a cheap version for £15 and it’s definitely thin but I’m so cozy today working at home!

SoupDragon · 07/12/2022 18:47

I think the two layers of fabric aren't necessarily very thick on our real Oodies but they feel thick because there are two. The cheaper/fake ones are often just a single layer of "fluffy" backed fabric.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/12/2022 18:52

Someone needs to weigh their oodie!

psuedocream3 · 07/12/2022 18:57

5poundshop were selling seconds of oodies kverthe last few months and other brands for about £12, so it's likely you've got one of those from someone who bought from there looking to make a quick buck. Those ones are genuine but with defects, anything from imperfections, upside down prints, rips, tears, wrong cut or cut out labels for example. I wouldn't be happy if I paid more than £12 for it personally

SpicyFoodRocks · 07/12/2022 19:07

OtterOddie · 07/12/2022 18:15

The otter one was £45 and the other ones they had listened ranged from £55-£65 I bought the otter one as it was cheapest, thought maybe it was just a less desirable print.

That’s quite expensive. Oodie sell two for £98.

If you really want to know, you could send a photo and description to Oodie and ask their opinion?

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/12/2022 19:11

I think you are within your rights to ask for a refund as the neckline is wrong and the seller told you it was excess stock, not seconds. I know you said you’d keep it but I would not pay an excessive amount for what may be a fake.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 07/12/2022 19:20

Tbh I hate oodies. My MIL got me one and I put it to charity I hated it that much.
Takes up too much wardrobe space and I got too hot.
They are overpriced for a polyester garment

fortheloveofcheesecake · 07/12/2022 19:25

I saw that listing on vinted and thought it sounded a bit dodgy....why wouldn't he return them for a refund if his event didn't go ahead?? I have a real oodie from the official website now and the neck does not match your photo at all.

DingDongItsChristmas · 07/12/2022 19:30

I have one direct from the website. Despite it literally being freezing here (had to defrost my car!) I had to take it off as I felt faint from overheating! If you feel cold in it it cannot be genuine!

Beautiful3 · 07/12/2022 19:38

We all have oodies, with different patterns. They're all thick and warm..I think yours is a rip off.
