To buy Pandora charm bracelets

Do girls still like these or are they completely passé?

Thinking of getting them for 16 and 15 year old. The girls are a bit gothic in style also so it might not be their thing anyway.

In my day it was the dangly silver charm bracelets but those would probably be like something from the Ark.

I wouldn’t buy something like that without checking with the people they were intended for.

Chikapu · 02/12/2022 17:19

If their style is goth I really wouldn't go with charm bracelets.

KangarooKenny · 02/12/2022 17:21

No !

ApolloandDaphne · 02/12/2022 17:22

Absolutely not. My DDs have never liked them at any age and they are not at all goth. I would imagine any self respecting goth would not be seen dead wearing Pandora. Jewellery can be tricky if you don't know their tastes.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 02/12/2022 17:23

Definitely not.

PearlsaSwinger · 02/12/2022 17:30

I'd have a look at something made out of Whitby jet. Some of that's gothy.

faffadoodledo · 02/12/2022 17:33

DD and friends (now 24 years old) were into these about a decade ago. They wore them u til GCSEs and I think they've languished in jewellery boxes since!
It's a no from me!
I'd look at vintage jewellery - silver or gold. Some second hand jewellery shops have quirky pieces which might appeal. And hits the vintage vibe thing they're all after!

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 02/12/2022 17:35

I would not buy a Goth a Pandora bracelet. It's the opposite of what they are !

Crabwoman · 02/12/2022 17:35

Just asked my similar aged DD and she looked at me as if I've grown horns.

They are "for old people", apparently.

daffodilandtulip · 02/12/2022 17:38

DD17 is into things like this

Definitely older people.

I’ve only seen people over 50 wear them.
I see a lot of people in my role & confirm their date of birth when I see them. It’s only the older ladies that wear them, not for teens at all in our area.

Fleabigg · 02/12/2022 17:41

Pandora is really divisive (I’m in the “massively dislike” camp) so I definitely wouldn’t buy anything there without checking first.

seymoursmyman · 02/12/2022 17:43

Nomination bracelets are fairly popular with my daughter and her friends. 19-21 yr olds.
You can get a black one too.

glasshole · 02/12/2022 17:44

If they are a bit goth then go for silver pieces from "as above" jewellers. They do lovely boots and are cheap. My daughter loves them. And FWI my 14 yo ADORES my Victorian style sterling silver charm bracelet and wears it all the time. She loves the charms that open and do things. She loves anything a bit Victoriana

Snoopystick · 02/12/2022 17:45

Naff stuff

AriettyHomily · 02/12/2022 17:45

No! Does anyone?!

Kanaloa · 02/12/2022 17:46

I don’t think you’re unreasonable to buy them - they get loads of hate on here but realistically they’re just charm bracelets.

But it is a bit daft to buy them for two girls you aren’t even sure will like them. With teenagers I think money is the way forward to be honest.

MatildaJayne · 02/12/2022 17:47

I liked troll beads about 10 years ago, but Pandora stuff is overpriced and a bit ubiquitous 50th birthday present.

Throwawayaccount1 · 02/12/2022 17:49

If you Google "science jewellery" there's some great options

Wishawisha · 02/12/2022 17:50

But it is a bit daft to buy them for two girls you aren’t even sure will like them this. I wouldn’t appreciate anything from Pandora really, but I’m sure plenty do.. but why would you shop there if you’re so unsure if the recipients want it? It doesn’t really sound their style. Even if they weren’t goth, still not reason to guess they’d like it. Voucher?

JoeMaplin · 02/12/2022 17:50

My dad age 16 likes hers, in fact her group of friends bought it for her birthday between them! She is quite quirky and has lots of piercings. I personally don’t like the Pandora style myself. I’d doubt they’d like it if they are gothic in style. Honestly with girls that age you can never know, I’d ask them!

JoyfulGirl · 02/12/2022 17:51

I’m pretty goth (although much older ) and I don’t care for Pandora at all. I’m a big fan of As Above, as other posters have recommended.

PickyEaters · 02/12/2022 19:05

Thanks all! I wanted to surprise them (hence I didn't ask) but I will avoid Pandora and check out all your other recommendations. ❤

I don’t like Pandora, I think the old-fashioned type of charm bracelet is much cooler and more individual. Neither is very goth though.
