To buy Pandora charm bracelets

Do girls still like these or are they completely passé?

Thinking of getting them for 16 and 15 year old. The girls are a bit gothic in style also so it might not be their thing anyway.

In my day it was the dangly silver charm bracelets but those would probably be like something from the Ark.

Whether they are their style or not… take it from me, those charms are well over priced. I worked for years in a fulfilment centre for a company who used to sell the genuine Pandora.

They came in little plastic bags from china and regularly we’re with broken clasps, gems missing etc. flimsy shit. Someone higher up told me that those bracelets were about 50p per unit to buy, and what are they to buy now retail? can’t remember, about 40 quid!? Don’t waste your time and money

Returned not we’re 🙁

My niece just turned 13 & that’s what she requested.

I wouldn’t if they’re alt though. I think they’re tacky af

My daughter is almost 16 and likes Missoma jewellery, sadly their 30% off sale just finished though.

If you have a crystal shop near you OP I would suggest you have a look in there.

They should have lots that will appeal to the average Goth.

And the staff will be happy, and able to advise you in my experience.

DD17 is into things like this

Oh god yes, mine has a case she changes with different crystals according to her mood

I bought my nieces Pandora bracelets a few Christmasses ago. They love them. I've bought them charms for events or something thats significant to them - 18th bday, driving test etc. They both have different charms now & it's become a thing. They wear them too, I've spotted them in photos they've posted online

Freshstarts22 · 02/12/2022 20:15

My 17 year old loves hers. She’s had it a few years and wears it everyday.

LadyPoison · 02/12/2022 20:20

If your budget will stretch to it check out shaunleane.com

Passthecheeseboard · 02/12/2022 20:21

Going against the grain here, I love Pandora jewellery and the charm bracelets, so does my 13 year old niece, they are popular among her class mates too.

If she’s goth though maybe she would like something a bit edgier and different… have you seen the troll beads collections?

Zanatdy · 02/12/2022 20:21

Love my Pandora and young people do like Pandora. But no it’s not goth style. Check out amazon for gothic style jewellery

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 02/12/2022 20:25

I know little about jewellery, but I associate Pandora with my 50-60 year old work colleagues.

I'd have a look at something made out of Whitby jet. Some of that's gothy.

Seconding this - in Stoker's Dracula, Whitby was where Dracula landed in the UK, so it would be a good gift for a goth. Vintage Whitby jet even better than new too.

www.handmadesteampunkjewellery.co.uk/shop/ There are some great necklaces on here. Steampunk often crosses over with gothic fashion.

DC1214 · 02/12/2022 20:34

They are popular in my DD13’s year at school and top of her Xmas list. I expect they’ll be out of vogue again in a year or two, as PP said you just can’t predict with girls of this age, last year she was all about anime.

Calphurnia88 · 02/12/2022 20:49

Possibly going to offend a few PP here but Pandora charm bracelets are pretty dated now - even Pandora seem to have distanced themselves from them in recent marketing campaigns.

Personally I think jewelery (or anything worn) is a high risk purchase as it's very personal to the wearer, and requires you to either share the same taste or know theirs well. The fact you were thinking of gifting Pandora charm bracelets to goth teens suggests this isn't the case, so perhaps a voucher for jewelery that they can choose themselves or another present might be safer?

I'm speaking from experience here BTW, as I have a relative who frequently buys me jewelery that sadly goes unworn because it is not to my taste and doesn't suit me (I only wear delicate gold jewelery but they always buy me big, costume-y pieces). Not only is it a waste of money, but it also makes me feel terribly guilty for not wearing it.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 02/12/2022 21:09

Hey OP - my 14 yo DD is goth and I just had a look at the “As Above” jewellery website - as recommended by an PP - and they have some fabulous stuff! If the girls you’re buying for a bit gothic or witchy or whatever, you’ll be on much firmer ground here. My girl would wear pretty much anything on the site, I reckon - even though her taste usually lends itself to the more skull and vampire side of things!

PickyEaters · 03/12/2022 00:15

Thanks all for your great suggestions I'm going to check out all those shops.

Check out Regal Rose, they do lots of gothic/victorian style stuff

fantasmasgoria1 · 03/12/2022 00:56

Try alchemy gothic and mysticum Luna .

Tootsweets84 · 03/12/2022 09:34

I'm not sure what teenage girls are into now, but I was fairly goth as a teen and I had a troll beads bracelet. They're less 'round' than pandora. My teenage boy is very alternative and he's currently obsessed with viking jewellery and anything depicting pagan gods

PickyEaters · 03/12/2022 12:18

Great suggestions. Thank you everyone.
