Cost of living and the war in Ukraine

AIBU to think it’s time to end the war in Ukraine and normalise relations with Russia. I can’t help but think that the need to stabilise markets and return to normal for so many families struggling in the UK and those around the world should now be a priority. Can we afford this war? Can the world afford the increase in fuel and grain/ food prices? Are families in the UK being impacted more than they had expected? Really struggling to make ends meet. Or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Yes. Stop it now as the UK is suffering.

Are you serious?

Beecham · 30/11/2022 23:36

How precisely could the war be 'ended'? Even if the UK withdrew support it would carry on. Putin is in too deep.

Greenshake · 30/11/2022 23:40

This has to be one of the most ridiculous and ignorant things I have ever read on here. OP, do you ever read a paper or watch the news? Do you think we can just “normalise” relations with Russia after all that has, and continues to go on? Jesus Christ., I despair. Wake up.

SavingKitten · 30/11/2022 23:45

Gee, wonder why nobody else has thought of just ending the war? I’m sure the Ukrainians are enjoying being invaded and having their people raped and murdered very much, but you are right, it’s very inconvenient for us so we should let them no it’s time to stop now.

Byelaws · 30/11/2022 23:48

YABU. And short sighted.

Without the rule of law (don’t invade!) there is no prosperity and we are all poorer.

I am sick of Putin apologists. The war ends when Russia leaves Ukraine.

Duchess379 · 30/11/2022 23:55

And how would 'we' do this?! Russia is a flucking arse of a country who wants to take over Ukraine. And once they've succeeded they'll move on to Poland & other neighbouring countries. But let's pander to the Russians because our bills have skyrocketed. Let's not be concerned about all those tens of thousands of people Putin has had killed in the meantime 🙄

luxxlisbon · 30/11/2022 23:57

Are you forgetting that Russia invaded Ukraine? What do you think the UK can do to end the war/normalise relations with Russia?

Iamclearlyamug · 01/12/2022 00:04

Wow the lack of understanding on here truly astonishes me sometimes.

So because your bills are higher, we should allow Russia to continue raping and/or murdering thousands of Ukranian women, men and children and taking over their land?

So if they came to invade England you'd be happy for the rest of the world to say 'ah sorry, we'd love to help, but you know, bills 🤷‍♀️'

Utterly moronic

NellesVilla · 01/12/2022 00:07

OP, maybe if you ask nicely they’ll get out of Ukraine and all will be well? Just like that.

HeddaGarbled · 01/12/2022 00:07

What do you mean - give them Ukraine?

Tukmgru · 01/12/2022 00:08

The only way the war ends is with Putin in jail or dead, or at the very least ‘retired’ by his oligarchs. What are you doing to make any of that happen OP?

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 01/12/2022 00:10

No. No, come on, this HAS to be a joke...surely!?

powershowerforanhour · 01/12/2022 00:12

Somebody ring Zelensky and tell him to throw in the towel cos Lucy thinks the prices in her local Asda have got shocking dear.

AdoraBell · 01/12/2022 00:14

How do you think the war will be stopped? And you to normalise relations with the aggressor?

antipodeancanary · 01/12/2022 00:15

No one who can work a smart phone is this stupid.

Testina · 01/12/2022 00:16

So how are you going to actually do that then Lucy?

Do “we” all get together and just tell Putin he can have Ukraine?

See all that Ukrainian grain - are you saying Putin’s going to give us it cheap because we gave him someone else’s country?

What do we do when he decides he’ll have Estonia too?

WorriedandScared93 · 01/12/2022 00:16
Confused
Anotherguy · 01/12/2022 00:17

Vladimir is that you?

wackamole · 01/12/2022 00:19

Wait a tic; I'll just ring Putin and let him know his activities are a bit disruptive and it's time to behave.

🎵🎵 Do they know it's Christmas time ...?? 🎵🎵

(Russian Orthodox Christmas is 7 Jan, so he's got loads of time.)

Heavyraindropsarefallingonmyhead · 01/12/2022 00:21

You seem sadly deluded about the UKs place in the world. We aren't in charge you know. It's not up to us to decided when other countries should and shouldn't fight. We don't have a say in this. We can apply sanctions etc the same as other countries but that's it, the same as other countries, no more.

But I'm glad you think it's about time they stopped bombing, murdering and killing Ukrainians because its making your bills and bit higher. I assume if it wasn't impacting families in the UK you would be fine with Russia continuing to invade its neighbouring countries.

socialmedia23 · 01/12/2022 00:22

The Ukrainians are paying for this war with their blood. Be grateful that we are only paying £££.

Cactuar · 01/12/2022 00:22

OK this same message has been posted on another thread. Clearly a T 🙄

LumpyandBumps · 01/12/2022 00:25

No, you’re not barking up the wrong tree. You’re just ‘barking’
It’s also rather concerning that 10% have voted YANBU

Lunar270 · 01/12/2022 00:25

YANBU

I'll call my mate Putz in the morning to call it all off. Potato, potaato and all that.

You'll be able to whack the heating up tomorrow night, say 7:00pm. Is that ok @Lucy61 ?
