Cost of living and the war in Ukraine

AIBU to think it’s time to end the war in Ukraine and normalise relations with Russia. I can’t help but think that the need to stabilise markets and return to normal for so many families struggling in the UK and those around the world should now be a priority. Can we afford this war? Can the world afford the increase in fuel and grain/ food prices? Are families in the UK being impacted more than they had expected? Really struggling to make ends meet. Or am I barking up the wrong tree.

What’s your grand plan OP? Do we all just write Putin a nice email saying we’d be ever so grateful if he’d stop all this funny business and he’ll say ‘sure, no problem’ 🙄 🙄 Honestly, if that were the way, I think we’d all have done that by now.

LlynTegid · 01/12/2022 09:04

A lot of the inflation we are experiencing in the UK is not related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Companies making excess profits by ripping people off, costs relating to Brexit and additional customs checks, for example.

RudsyFarmer · 01/12/2022 09:09

I think we should also stop the conflicts on every other place on the globe (and there are many). If i click my heels together would that help?

Greenshake · 01/12/2022 09:11

@Doodadoo you seem to have lost the ability to see the bigger picture.

iloveeverykindofcat · 01/12/2022 09:14

3/10, weak bait.

heldinadream · 01/12/2022 09:17

Like a kind of Hitler appeasement kinda thing? Fabulous idea OP, thanks for floating it. Obviously will go super swimmingly.

AfricanAmericanFriday · 01/12/2022 09:21

How do we stop the war? Your naivety is alarming.
Surely, it’s up to Putin to decide if he wants to continue with it or not.

Greenshake · 01/12/2022 09:26

Hmmmmm…..no sign of OP returning?

Autumnnewname · 01/12/2022 09:46

And who turns up on the thread but the victim blamers

When Ukraine gave up it's nuclear weapons we were part of the security assurances.

And Ukraine can join whatever alliance it wants. It's not a russian state.

Maybe the OP can get in touch with putin and ask him to broker peace.

And why would Ukraine do that? And if they did, what happens when Putin then moves on to invading Poland and the Baltic countries? And when China decides at that point to take advantage of a badly weakened Europe? OP What do you think that might do to the cost of living crisis if that’s your only concern about this conflict?

It's like a chess board, besides we saw from history all the secret operations that went on, all the misinformation, ect why would today's wars be any different ?

My point is that we do not live in a vacuum, if we think things are tough now, they would be a damn sight tougher if Putin was let loose in the rest of Europe.

To those saying it’s not our war, it most certainly is our war with Ukraine acting as our and the rest of Europe’s proxy.

What if Russia did start a war with nato, if everything was mobilized, secret projects, black ops ect could nato win ?

Hesma · 03/12/2022 06:50

WTAF!!!!!

Crazycrazylady · 03/12/2022 16:02

Why not. Let's give them the rest of Eastern Europe too just to make sure that putin is 100% hapoy. As long as the west has cheap oil that's the most important thing 🙄
