Lighthearted folks to give us some cheer as we waltz into December.

Mine was at a very expensive theme park.

Put money into vending machine for a Kit Kat and it released all the chocolate! About 30 different bars dropped. Kids were delighted and we gave some to the only other family behind us.

DH still talks about it as a life highlight Smile

A £50 win on my premium bonds at age 15 in 1992. Seemed like a fortune at the time. I haven't won since 🤣

Threadkillacilla · 30/11/2022 18:33
  1. Won third prize in the church Chrismas raffle. Supposed to be a box of crisps. Was six boxes of different flavours and a tin of chocolates when I picked it up. And two Dundee cakes but they weren't so good.

son Got a chance to be desensitised from peanut allergy! Complete windfall!!

Ringmaster27 · 30/11/2022 18:37

We have One of those game machines that spits out scratch cards at my work. I’ve never seen anyone win more than a fiver on one. It was due to be filled up the next day and there were only 2 tickets left in it so I chucked £1 in for 2 tickets. First one I won nothing, second one I won £300 🙌🏻

sittingonacornflake · 30/11/2022 18:38

@strawberriesplease that's epic and I'm so jealous!

GreenLeavesRustling · 30/11/2022 18:40

autienotnaughty · 30/11/2022 18:40

I won a cruise last year, just a "click to enter" competition on an app I use.
It was only a 4 day round trip cruise but it was really lovely after a load of lockdown and didn't cost anything at all as everything was genuinely included.

25years ago we bought a house and something major had been missed by the surveyor. We contacted him and he didn’t want to know so engaged a solicitor who said we needed to pay the first £2000 ourselves to start proceedings.
We eventually got a settlement less the £2k.
Two years later got a letter out of the blue from the solicitor. The chq for £2k hadn’t been put through the books and they had just been audited.
It was cheaper to return the £2k to us than re audit the books so would we please accept this chq.
Happy days.

Our work lottery syndicate won £20k between twenty of us. Just before Xmas.
A spinster great aunt I'd never met left my DF £10k. As he pre deceased her it came to me and my DB.
Once ordered a rucksack from Mountain Warehouse and three were delivered. Good ones too.
Won £1000 on Premium Bonds recently.

Pipsickl · 30/11/2022 18:50

When I was 13 my best friend and I went into a telephone box and the metal bit where the money goes was slightly open and there were just loads of 50p’s and £1s all over the floor (?!) obvs we just scooped it all up and went on our merry way 😳

1985 - First ever day of my Saturday job at a huge Tesco store. Went to collect my wage packet from the cash office and there was a raffle ticket inside it. The raffle was drawn at the end of my shift and I won first prize. A black and white portable TV. One of the very old fashion types with a dial for tuning it in.15 year old me was made up as it was a £50 TV and my wages for a whole Saturday were £9!

glasshole · 30/11/2022 18:56

The year was 2013, my daughter had found a new favourite perfume but it was quickly discontinued and I found a multi pack of 3 bottles on Amazon. I placed an order. They sent 3 multis totalling 9 but I was partially refunded as they apparently only had 1 in stock....I was only charged for one. So every birthday and Christmas for 4 years she would be like 😲😲😲😲 that I had found yet another bottle of it for her.

rachelagain · 30/11/2022 19:02

September this year: I’m self employed, business still getting back on its feet after covid. Two children were heading to uni and I needed to magic up £2k from nowhere as my contribution to their rent etc. I had no idea where to get it.

Bought a lottery ticket on a whim for the first time ever and won £1700.

Pidgeonslipshit · 30/11/2022 19:08

Claimed PPI on a whim with zero bank details apart from name of bank and got £5000..bloody marvellous result 👍

Whoneedsleep · 30/11/2022 19:09

I was driving my car down a random street when a yellow bollard flew out of the air (very windy windy and wasn’t weighted down) and hit the side of the car, causing a dint and a scratch.
Some workmen saw it and gave me the number of the company who sent me £1500 to get the car fixed in the post.

I left the dint and got a puppy with it instead 😄

THisbackwithavengeance · 30/11/2022 19:09

DH and I won first class long haul plane tickets to a tourist city with a 2 night stay in a boutique hotel in a gala raffle once.

We were the most chuffed people ever.

outdooryone · 30/11/2022 19:10

My work has unexpectedly taken me to some wonderful places in Europe and Asia. While I work hard when there, I've managed a few lovely extra days due to flight availability.

Danikm151 · 30/11/2022 19:11

Had a lotto ticket prize should have been £10 but because of the guaranteed win Jackpot it turned into £810 just before i was about to go on maternity leave

SweetSakura · 30/11/2022 19:12

I won a Mumsnet competition for shopping vouchers at time when I was absolutely scraping by after leaving abusive ex. It gave much such a boost at such a ridiculously hard time!

MakeMineALarge1 · 30/11/2022 19:13

Ordered a lipstick from Amazon
They sent me 1box, containing 48!

Clarabellawilliamson · 30/11/2022 19:13

We won external wall insulation in a competition from the council. We were supposed to 'advertise' the green deal locally. The whole scheme went totally tits up but we were 'in the system' by that point so had it all done then never had to do anything! It would have cost £6-8k.

We have since moved, but I miss that lovely cosy little house!

DarkKarmaIlama · 30/11/2022 19:13

I won a very fancy all singing and dancing baby seat/chair from babyworld.com 13 years ago as I won the baby diary of the month.

That’s my biggest windfall 😂.
