Lighthearted folks to give us some cheer as we waltz into December.

Mine was at a very expensive theme park.

Put money into vending machine for a Kit Kat and it released all the chocolate! About 30 different bars dropped. Kids were delighted and we gave some to the only other family behind us.

DH still talks about it as a life highlight Smile

Not exactly a windfall but I got to the checkout today and realised I had lost my handbag containing my purse, keys, phone etc. (I must have put it down whilst wiping down the trolley and wrangling dgd into the seat). The cashier immediately asked the colour of my bag and what it contained. An absolutely lovely person had handed it in!

When I was at Uni there were communal laundry facilities. The dryer was 20p for 10 minutes and was rubbish.

One day I went to put my washing in the dryer and discovered the bit where your money fell into was unlocked and open, full of 20p coins.

Reader, my washing was fully dried that day....

Won £150,000. Still couldn't believe it.

Willowswood · 02/12/2022 21:18

My wages were wrong one month (we're talking 22 years ago now). I should of had £1400, but I was paid over £4k.

I spent it. Felt good.

Went to Trago Mills to buy 2 rugs. The worker in the rug department rolled up the rugs so we could take them to the till. £60 each.

When we went through the till, it looked like 1 rug, not 2, so it was scanned as 1.

Had our own buy one get one free that day.

Randomly guessed the winner of the grand national and won £500!

VestaTilley · 02/12/2022 21:53

Won £100 House of Fraser voucher in the Christmas raffle at work - bought a new winter coat in the sales for free.

Got drawn in the work ballot for two tickets to a Buckingham Palace Garden party - fabulous afternoon!

Great thread. I had a letter through the door from a TV company scouting for locations. They filmed outside my house and I got £250!

I certainly won’t be phoning British Gas about this! Let’s hope they don’t realise!!

Ooh I'd love to win that amount, it would pay off my mortgage with a bit left over. Although I need to move house for more space so could put it towards a bigger house.

Tagged wrong poster, should have been the poster who won £150k.

Fairislefandango · 02/12/2022 22:47

Dh found over a thousand pounds in old notes buried in various jars in our garden. Some notes didn't survive being taken out and dried, but most did, were still legal tender. They had to be sent to the Royal Mint, but we got the money!

SevernEleven · 02/12/2022 22:57

On the Sparks card 12 days of Christmas, I have been given a bag of percy pigs and 15% off a bag of crisps!

Yeah that was me. It was amazing. 🥳

I won a VW campervan recently. Worth about £60000. I still can't believe it!

I once won a 5 weekend in Edinburgh for four people with Visit Scotland - flights there, chauffeured transfer, 5 hotel, meals in fancy restaurants, spa trip and money to spend in a department store. It was amazing. I took my then boyfriend (now DH) and my parents and we spent the whole weekend laughing our heads off, not believing our luck. My dad died a year or so later and it's one of my favourite memories.

Dh won a holiday to Mexico in his job. It was a recognition thing.
It was amazing, business class travel, luxury 5star resort. All inclusive. I'd guess it was a €15k holiday.
We went this day last year. Sigh

Asterisk fail there, sorry!

a group of us went to see Take That on their first tour as a five piece since Robbie left and then came back.

We had bought tickets in “The Golden Circle” and when we went in they shoved two wristbands on us.

As we were about to enter, a security guard nabbed us and said “oh you, lot - you’re in the GOLDEN golden circle” and ushered us through a different entrance.

Turns out it was a space for about 300 people including Gary Barlow’s family!

We didn’t pay any more for our tickets than other Golden Circle ticket holders and to this day don’t know how it happened. It was amazing though.
