There quite possibly could be a thread about this already apologies if so I haven't checked but wandering your opinions on this.

Do you buy/wear Balenciaga and if so will you stop in light of this this?

For those who may be unaware they had two recent ad campaigns, quoted from the newspaper;

Onee of the ads, the designer’s gift collection campaign, featured children posing with the brand’s teddy bear purses, which critics pointed out appear to be wearing BDSM and bondage-inspired accessories.

The second ad under scrutiny is Balenciaga’s Spring 2023 campaign, for its use of a printout of a Supreme Court decision on child pornography.

Out of curiosity, why haven't you checked?

There are multiple fwiw

NEmama · 29/11/2022 22:18

Over priced shite so wouldn't buy it anyway

onmywayamarillo · 29/11/2022 22:20

Seems to be a very 'American' thing so not sure it's going to land here

Keyansier · 29/11/2022 22:21

I don't buy Balenciaga but wouldn't stop because of this. I don't boycott brands even if I read or hear something about them I disagree with if there's something I want from them.

Norma27 · 29/11/2022 22:24

I don’t buy it but would definitely boycott over this if I did. There is no excuse for paedophiliac ad campaigns.

gogohmm · 29/11/2022 22:25

I hadn't heard on them until today. Brand awareness campaign perhaps, a bit warped though!

CellarBellaatemycoal · 29/11/2022 22:26

Balenciaga has been drug dealer style for a while now. If I want to spend £££ on clothes I don’t want to look like I’ve taken up a county lines career. Or that I’m a rapper. So all things considered , along with the recent controversy , no thanks balenciaga, I’ll stick with primark for now.

Tryfull · 29/11/2022 22:30

I don't buy designer clothes but if I did I would boycott. Its sickening that paedophilia is bring celebrated and some people (PP above!) don't care!
Sadly, I think it's an extension of queer theory and the push for sexual taboos to be normalised. There are a lot of paedophiles amongst TRAs, for example.

Whatnext1234 · 29/11/2022 22:35

@Tryfull what are TRAs?

outpatient · 29/11/2022 22:40

Agree! It's weird to me how celebrities are really underplaying it

Yes!! 100% this

bloodyplanes · 29/11/2022 22:41

I wouldn't be seen dead in it anyway and especially not now they have done this! Its the favoured brand of the chav,criminal types.

This made me laugh out loud!

@Tryfull what are TRAs?

Trans rights activists. AKA men's rights activists.

Slow clap 👏🏻😵‍💫

JackandVera · 29/11/2022 23:08

There are further issues with a book there featuring castrated toddlers. I wouldn't buy their stuff and sadly I think there are some sick fucks out there who get a kick from doing this kind of thing in public.

Dontaskdontget · 29/11/2022 23:32

More normalisation by paedophiles of sexualising children and children’s toys.

Perverts. Hope the company goes under and they all go bankrupt.

donttellmehesalive · 30/11/2022 06:52

The handbags are awful but then so much of their recent fashion has been. I agree with the pp who called it drug dealer fashion but also sort of emporer's new clothes too, a joke. I imagine their board sitting around sniggering at what people will buy.

But I will also reserve judgement for now. I don't make knee jerk decisions and I don't believe everything I see on TikTok.

I believe Balenciaga have said that they ordered 'fake court documents' from a props company and didn't realise they ended up with copies of real documents, much less the nature of those documents, and that the bags were intended for adult use.

The 11:10 clock feels like a stretch.

Snopes have disproved some other claims.

Snopes often get things very wrong. They have their own agenda.

"Snopes often get things very wrong. They have their own agenda."

Well then the choice is believing Snopes or TikTok randoms I guess. Like I say, I'll wait and see before baying for blood.

InWalksBarberalla · 30/11/2022 07:48

Surely the child holding the bondage teddy bear is enough even if snipes doesn't think the other things in the image are dodgy as fuck.

Forever42 · 30/11/2022 07:50

Not a Balenciaga wearer but would not purchase from any brand that normalises child pornography.

When it first came out there were posts on here trying to claim the Teddy was dressed as a punk .🤔

Roselilly36 · 30/11/2022 08:01

Beyond disgusting, anyone who would model, be involved with this brand, should be ashamed of themselves.

JayJayYoYo · 30/11/2022 08:03

I more conserved why the primary carers for these children stood by and let their child be photographed in this way. But yet again a business is held accountable but parents get off scot free.

BaileySharp · 30/11/2022 08:05

I think it's a very bad thing they did but I'm not one of their customers anyway
