Children (age 7+) and adults, fun and not too complicated, what are your favourites?

OP posts:

Carcassonne
Takenoko
King of tokyo

Recently played Beat It at a friends and have ordered it for Xmas. Great fun for all ages.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/11/2022 11:31

Beat That!

DuchessDandelion · 27/11/2022 11:34

The London Game

Calvinlookingforhobbes · 27/11/2022 11:35

Ticket to ride

Perhapser · 27/11/2022 11:35

Not a board game but the family edition of cards against humanity is hilarious.

JuneOsborne · 27/11/2022 11:36

Dixit. Really simple, but engaging. I think it's one of the most underrated board games out there!

UnsolicitedOpinions · 27/11/2022 11:37

Ticket to Ride Europe - best game ever. When we first got it I think we played it every day for about a month!

Perhapser · 27/11/2022 11:38

Oh and sequence also excellent

bookworm14 · 27/11/2022 11:38

It’s a card game rather than a board game, but Exploding Kittens is brilliant.

Carcassonne
Takenoko
King of tokyo

Interesting you say Takenoko - I feel I’m missing something about that game. I got it from a specialist board game shop on their advice but it just seems really complicated and really boring. We’ve. Never got through a game to the end.

Am I doing it wrong?!!

sunnydayhereandnow · 27/11/2022 11:46

The Mind (card game)
Love Letter (card game)
Rummikub
Settlers of Catan
Codenames

Takenoko? Not get to the end? How? I should only last half hour to 45 mins!!! Everyone loves the growing bamboo!! My guess is something isn't playing right. From memory its not the best instruction manual. If you want to invest the time I'd have a little watch of someone else playing it on you tube like

Icedlatteplease · 27/11/2022 11:56

Personally I would consider 7 too young for either ticket to ride or catan.

Yy to the London game or the European version

Also labyrinth and canvas

Love letter needs decent working memory (ie if you hate matching pairs you will probably hate love letter)

Shortbread49 · 27/11/2022 11:56

Spy game called Scotland Yard , I don’t understand exploding kittens but I think that’s due to my 11 year olds explanation designed so I lose

GlitchStitch · 27/11/2022 11:58

Stupid Deaths

PiggyPlumPie · 27/11/2022 12:05

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is fabulous fun! A twist on snap and very easy to learn.

Thank you - I will watch it and have another go! Yes - the instruction manual is terrible!

We've played the Horrible Histories board game recently - it really worked because DS could show off his HH knowledge, and it's quite short too.

SerenaTee · 27/11/2022 12:22

Sequence and Rummikub are big hits on my family

ichundich · 27/11/2022 12:23

Cluedo, Labyrinth, Game of Life, Skipbo, UNO

donttellmehesalive · 27/11/2022 12:27

Monopoly of course. Risk, Junior Trivial Pursuit, Scattergories, Family Fortunes, Pictionary, Cluedo.

madnessitellyou · 27/11/2022 12:36

Cobra Paw.

Uno (my dd managed this at 7).

GuybrushT · 27/11/2022 12:39

We love monopoly deal in our house, a card game version of monopoly which is far quicker and simpler! We also play Tenzi a lot, Labyrinth and Honeycombs (kids are 7 and 10). Kids, parents and grandparents all love these games in our house!

notasillysausage · 27/11/2022 12:42

Cobra paw, really fun and quick game
