To think Vinted and Inpost have made a huge mess!

I sold a dress on Vinted a few weeks ago and my buyer received a bundle of baby clothes with her name and address on it and with mine listed as the sender. I've never seen these baby clothes in my life and meanwhile the dress is missing - I can only assume someone who ordered somethingelse has received it! Vinted has done nothing to resolve the issue and keeps saying there "investigating." Meanwhile my buyer and I are in limbo with her wanting her dress and me wanting my £20.

I then stumbled across a couple of Facebook groups with thousands of members who have had this happen to them. It seems Inpost has got all the labels mixed up! When you use inpost you package up the item and scan a QR code when you drop it off at the locker. Inpost is then supposed to print out and attach the label themselves.

Vinted has encouraged its users to use the Inpost shipping option. And now they are just trying to ignore the problem and hope it goes away. Inpost has been completely useless also.

So AIBU to a) warn people not to use Inpost b) ask if this has happened to you also and c) hope the media will pick this up? Because to my mind it's quite scandalous - it isn't an isolated problem at all but seems to be affecting thousands of people!

I haven’t heard about that those poor lens! Tbh I love the inpost option as I don’t have a printer and can drop off whenever I want. Also used it for loads of pick ups and it’s been great.

Catslovepies · 27/11/2022 08:54

If you do use inpost @HousePlantNeglect I really recommend putting a little note inside the parcel with your address and phone number and the buyer's address on it. So if and when a mixup occurs it can hopefully stand a chance of being sorted.

I have used inpost as a buyer 3x on vinted and had issues each time, so would never use it again.
The first package was never delivered, it stayed with inpost for 3 weeks before being finally returned to the sender and I had to wait all this time for a refund. The second delivery was just cancelled by inpost after a week and sent back to sender. The third was delayed by 10 days, and then finally delivered to a locker on a Tuesday and a 48h deadline to collect it! This is in their T&C's but not visible on vinted so I wasn't expecting it, it's too short for me for a weekday delivery, particularly when you have no way to know when they will deliver it - what if I was away on that week?

Catslovepies · 27/11/2022 10:32

Is it sad @BerkLily35 that I would consider those actually good outcomes when using inpost 🤣. Apparently they had huge problems in September, then those stopped happening (but still many people left without refunds or their items)....now it seems to be happening again.

The main issue I have is that I can never find a free inpost box - the 'small' parcel slots seem to fill up immediately. Also I've checked the website, found the one nearest me has lockers empty, got there within 5 mins, only to find that they are all full, despite the app still saying there are available lockers.

I've pretty much stopped using vinted because of it, as since they've taken away the DIY shipping options inpost is the only one you can use without a printer.

Catslovepies · 27/11/2022 12:02

There's a shop near me that does yodel and they print the labels, @latetothefisting , don't know if there's one near you that does it (some yodel shops print and other don't)

Hi, my buyer has received a dress instead of baby clothes. Long shot I know but just wondering if you have a picture of the baby clothes?

passport123 · 29/11/2022 16:08

I'd never use any service where I didn't print the label and stick it on myself.

Catslovepies · 29/11/2022 19:25

I feel the same now, @passport123

I'll message you, @SarahK25 .

I sent a shirt in September. Buyer desperately wanted it. It vanished. InPost had no idea of its whereabouts. Buyer was fortunately really understanding. Eventually it was considered lost and she had her refund and Vinted paid up for it's disappearance, buyer was gutted.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, it arrived at my house. We have no idea where it's been. I paid for Royal Mail and sent it to her anyway. She was thrilled.

The irony of this great journey? It was a Hobbit T Shirt!

JoandLily · 29/11/2022 19:54

Inpost lost a parcel I sent to someone last month, I got a refund off vinted but I bet what's happened to you happened to my parcel! I've used it before when I put a label on myself and had no problems

Sleepyquest · 29/11/2022 19:54

@Catslovepies please let us know if you've found the missing dress via mumsnet!

Eileen101 · 29/11/2022 19:58

Yes it's terrible, this has been happening for a while now, since they introduced the new label less system.
Several months ago, I had a few things go astray in the system, mostly purchases. They were 'lost' for several weeks until being returned to the seller and the transactions reversed.
No idea why vinted still have it as an option until they remove the clearly non functional label less system.

InsomniacVampire · 29/11/2022 19:59

A few of the items I bought via vinted with inpost took like a month to arrive, one sat in the locker where the buyer dropped it off for over 3 weeks, they picked it up the day or so before the timeline when it would be considered lost. I emailed them and they didnt even bother investigating- they just said sorry ooops parcel lost, and then voila, I got it 3 days later.

Itsallyellow22 · 29/11/2022 20:00

I used it for three vinted parcels in Sept. Had a nightmare finding an available locker, on day 5 of daily trying I drove to another town. All went missing. One was randomly sent back to me about a month later?! Would never use them again.

TheDogsMother · 29/11/2022 20:16

I tried to use it for the first time yesterday and the buyer somehow had paid for the smallest locker whereas the very light but fairly large package needed the largest locker. She cancelled which is fine but I have now removed it as one of my delivery options.

cannaethink · 29/11/2022 20:16

I turned inpost off as an option for selling, and never pick it if I’m buying. I’ve heard of too many issues!
Although I often use it to send Evri parcels and haven’t had an issue yet…

Unwaxedlemons · 29/11/2022 20:32

Ive had the same problem. Total pain and won't use again.

lovealotbear · 29/11/2022 20:33

Pleased to have found this thread as the same happened to me. I ordered two dresses one at beginning of November and one mid November. Both were delivered Inpost and when I went to pick up parcels they were two parcels containing random pairs of trainers. My sellers had not seen the trainers and as bemused as me! I have opened up a case with Vinted and had no response despite chasing. It was disappointing as actually wanted the items I had ordered.

MaryGubbins · 29/11/2022 20:37

I posted The other day and when the locker popped open there were 2 parcels in it already. That can’t be good can it

chikp · 29/11/2022 20:39

How does the inpost work I don't get it?

britsabroad · 29/11/2022 20:49

I had 7 vinted parcels go missing thanks to Inpost. Eventually vinted refunded me after 2 months and then the parcels turned back up with the sellers. So frustrating. Haven't used vinted since.

pellythefamouspenguin · 29/11/2022 21:00

I'm glad I've seen this thread as I'll avoid the InPost option next time.
But I also want to know if the OP's dress has been mixed up with @SarahK25's parcel!!!

Wam90 · 29/11/2022 21:07

The most recent annoyance I’ve had with inpost is the buyer had two days to collect the parcel from the locker and she wasn’t able to get there because of other commitments so they sent it back to me and I had to send it on again 🙈.

StoneofDestiny · 29/11/2022 21:28

Never heard of inpost!

Have just been looking on Vinted and there are some real bargains on there - some great designer dresses and unworn shoes. Sadly not my sizes.
