To think Vinted and Inpost have made a huge mess!

I sold a dress on Vinted a few weeks ago and my buyer received a bundle of baby clothes with her name and address on it and with mine listed as the sender. I've never seen these baby clothes in my life and meanwhile the dress is missing - I can only assume someone who ordered somethingelse has received it! Vinted has done nothing to resolve the issue and keeps saying there "investigating." Meanwhile my buyer and I are in limbo with her wanting her dress and me wanting my £20.

I then stumbled across a couple of Facebook groups with thousands of members who have had this happen to them. It seems Inpost has got all the labels mixed up! When you use inpost you package up the item and scan a QR code when you drop it off at the locker. Inpost is then supposed to print out and attach the label themselves.

Vinted has encouraged its users to use the Inpost shipping option. And now they are just trying to ignore the problem and hope it goes away. Inpost has been completely useless also.

So AIBU to a) warn people not to use Inpost b) ask if this has happened to you also and c) hope the media will pick this up? Because to my mind it's quite scandalous - it isn't an isolated problem at all but seems to be affecting thousands of people!

I used inpost once in the middle of September and sent a dress to a lady who wanted it for an event at the end of October. It eventually arrived on the 31st October after being stuck at the sorting office for 6 weeks! Both Vinted and Inposts customer service was shocking so I’ve turned it off as an option now and just sticking to evri & yodel

This has put me off Vinted. I sell a few items a month of eBay.

I listed an item on Vinted, had people offer the selling price but couldn't bring myself to sell it on there.

Maupeep · 29/11/2022 22:25

This exact thing has just happened to me!!
Sold a fair few items on eBay and 4 of my buyers have received incorrect items with Inpost.

inpost useless so far! No idea how long it will take to resolve but it is so frustrating. 3 items still to be delivered that are not being updated either.
I won’t use them again

Stripypopsicle · 29/11/2022 22:31

I use inpost too. Have used my local one over 70 times in the last 12 months and have never had an issue. I wonder if it varies according to area.

Vinted always gives me the option of scanning a code or printing off a label when using inpost.

snowballer · 29/11/2022 22:42

Following purely because I now want to know if the missing dress has been found on this thread Grin

But for those who say it's putting them off Vinted - just take Inpost off your posting options as a seller, and if you're a buyer select one of the others. I've used them and had no issues but definitely was bewildered the first time dropping off a parcel with no label on it!

SarahK25 · 30/11/2022 06:43

@pellythefamouspenguin Unfortunately not! 😔

Catslovepies · 30/11/2022 08:26

No, we're not a match sadly. The mystery of where the missing items are continues (for us and thousands of others!).

I only buy in vinted at the moment and always choose Evri or yodel, preferably Evri as yodel round here arent great. I need to start selling and have only listed Evri as I'll use as I've heard so many stories about in post. You can select in settings which Postal service you want to offer

TheGoogleMum · 30/11/2022 08:47

I ordered some bits on vinted and chose inpost delivery, it all got stuck at the local delivery office for over a week. It did all arrive correctly eventually! I wouldn't choose inpost again though as I also joined some Facebook groups about it and we quite shocked at how many people were getting the wrong parcels

Snoopsnoggysnog · 30/11/2022 08:49

Oh dear
I’ve been selling stuff and haven’t had a problem yet but I expect as we get closer to Christmas it’s going to get worse.

I don’t understand the difference between Evri and inpost though I thought they were the same thing!

DillyDallyDooo · 30/11/2022 08:51

Some thing happened to me, buyer order clothing and a necklace turned up! Found the Facebook groups and seeing hundreds and hundreds of people with the same issue! We put a label on ours too so that shouldn't have been an issue!

Catslovepies · 30/11/2022 14:45

I haven't even tried posting on the Facebook pages about mixed up labels because even if we locate my buyer's stuff and figure out who has hers what do we do then? No one involved should have to pay for postage and also a lot of the time it isn't a simple switch where two people receive each other's items but a whole chain of people all with the wrong stuff!

Coming back to this thread as I think deliveries are going to be a disaster in the run up to Christmas.
I’ve ordered a Christmas jumper for DS, ordered about 5 days ago and the seller posted the next day, the delivery estimate is now 5th-20th December! Which is too late for Xmas jumper day at school.

I’ve also sold two Christmas jumpers and worried that buyers won’t get them in time. So annoying, can also see on tracking that when you put something in the locker it sometimes doesn’t get collected for 3 days.

Catslovepies · 06/12/2022 07:33

I think you're right @Snoopsnoggysnog there are still lots of posts in the Facebook groups about switched labels. As for me and my buyer, it's coming up on a month since posting the parcel and vinted are still "investigating" with no compensation or solution in sight 🙄

OP posts:
Snoopsnoggysnog · 06/12/2022 12:00

So after I posted this I actually got the Xmas jumper yesterday so maybe it wasn’t too bad 🤣
hope everyone else and their buyers get the right parcels. I still think it’s going to be messy in the run up to Christmas especially with strikes all over the place.

Libbabe · 12/06/2023 13:21

Hope everybody knows that InPost is Yodel by another name & we all know how awful Yodel can be!! Had I known I would never have bought from Vinted. I am waiting on 9 parcels & don't expect to see any of them any time soon.

biedrona · 12/06/2023 13:42

I buy and sell on vinted using inPOst and never had an issue. You can choose evri only in settings.

Is in post Yodel and not Evri? You can post Evri into the inpost but Yodel has to go to the corner shop. Or at least here it does. If they were the same thing, surely you could post Yodel in the inpost

drpet49 · 12/06/2023 13:50

I am waiting on a parcel- they didn’t even try to deliver it to the locker and it is getting returned to the sender! Absolute shambles.

biedrona · 12/06/2023 13:51

Where I am Yodel is separate to inpost.
Yodel goes to store. inpost to boxes.
Evri can be home delivered

Libbabe · 12/06/2023 14:36

Well, apparently they are the same & I think Evri are involved as well! It's all to do with the ease of delivery & pick up to the lockers - hah!

Libbabe · 12/06/2023 14:37

Which courier does InPost use?
You'll receive a drop-off code that will allow you to open and deposit your parcel in the InPost locker. InPost's courier partner, Yodel, will then collect the parcel and deliver it, either to another InPost locker near to your recipient or directly to their home.

GroovieAngel · 12/06/2023 14:42

I'm new to Vinted and have used in post about 15 times now each without problem.

I did find the "pop the parcel in the locker and we will do the rest" a bit odd, so I ALWAYS write the inpost qr code number on the parcel and always my address as sender on the back as I figure it will help lessen the user error on the in post collection courier when printing and applying the label - so less in the hands of the inpost gods that way?

Andyzol · 17/06/2023 16:59

I have purchased a lot on vinted , had virtually no trouble with Evri and yodel who are both pretty good . Inpost were initially good but are now shocking ! Most of their lockers are always full so now I'm getting ' unable to deliver' frequently, that's if they haven't lost it or delivered something I didn't order Of my last two purchases one was 'unable to deliver' and sent back to sender !! The other has no less than 15 different tracking statements ,was out for delivery for 3 days , eventually arrived back at delivery depot and has sat there for 3 days ! How hard can it be to deliver a parcel !?

GroovieAngel · 17/06/2023 20:15

@Andyzol I've just discovered you can turn off in-post as a delivery service so that you no longer use them- it's taken me a while to work this out!
