My top one is the phrase “Up to 40% off”, oh right so that’s 5% of 95% of your stuff and 40% off sun hats then - thanks!

People trampling others to death for a Tickle Me Elmo.

It’s just bad manners.

Hmmmmnotsure · 24/11/2022 19:14

That I've not been paid yet!

PaniniHead · 24/11/2022 19:14

That it’s always just before pay day (I get paid the last working day of the month)

Bookaholic73 · 24/11/2022 19:14

The amount of emails I get.

BusySittingDown · 24/11/2022 19:15

The fact that it's not Black Friday it's Black bloody November and all the deals are done by Black Friday and I'm not ready.

autumn1610 · 24/11/2022 19:16

That it’s not just Black Friday. They have had “Black Friday” sales on since beginning of November and is just a normal sale now

Meseekslookatme · 24/11/2022 19:18

That it's a post Thanksgiving thing that WE DON'T BLOODY CELEBRATE HERE!!
Why the hell shops decided we needed to jump on this bandwagon I'll never understand.
I don't get involved.

Yes this!

SpinningFloppa · 24/11/2022 19:30

That it’s not actually anything special, in America I see them fighting over tvs so guessing they put them on for really cheap, here it’s £10 off a tv 🤦🏻 also a website I seen doing black Friday and turned out it was only 15% it’s now the whole month which is silly why call it Black Friday at all?

BosaNova · 24/11/2022 19:30

I am well disappointed this year! Normally I find actual discounts but this year is a farce!

Blocked · 24/11/2022 19:30

There's never anything I want to buy.

XenoBitch · 24/11/2022 19:32

That retailers make out that you are getting a bargain. Many put their prices up before Black Friday, and most still have other sales throughout the year anyway.
The only BF deals I take notice of are those by small sellers on Etsy etc.

Asher33 · 24/11/2022 19:33

That it exists

00100001 · 24/11/2022 19:33

That it lasts 3+ weeks and has "stolen" Cyber Monday from us.

BlackCatTabbyCat · 24/11/2022 19:34

I've been checking prices on an iPad for around a month and Argos have had it at £309 every day up until yesterday. Today it's gone up to £369 no doubt they will reduce it back to £309 and make it look like a £60 saving.

carefulcalculator · 24/11/2022 19:34

I'm not arsed about shopping, so I ignore it. I hate how excited people get about it, when it is just a sale.

Astralitzia · 24/11/2022 19:38

The scenes of swarms of people trampling each other, fighting, and trashing shops, so desperate are they for a cut price item that will end up in landfill. Disgraceful greedy animals, the lot of them.

The whole thing needs scrapping tbh, we really don't need to be consuming more and more.

Exactly this. They inflate the prices specifically so you think you're getting a saving.

Floydthebarber · 24/11/2022 19:39

It's not as good as it used to be. I remember going on amazon about 15 years ago and finding all these fantastic offers, I wasn't exactly certain what Black Friday was but the discounts were huge. I got dh a very good mp3 one year and a garmin watch the next and it was about 60% off. Felt like an event rather than a month of things at 10% off for Black Friday month.

BosaNova · 24/11/2022 19:42

More like ebay or marketplace with £50 on top

Georgeskitchen · 24/11/2022 19:43

The fact that people think they are getting a bargain when in truth the retailers just want to get rid of all.the shit hanging around in their warehouses 🤣

bridgetreilly · 24/11/2022 19:43

THIS. It is meaninglessness nonsense that hypes up the consumerism of this season even more than before. Just ignore it, everyone.

thebellagio · 24/11/2022 19:45

The hiking up of prices makes me cross.

last month my 7yo bought a Barbie from Smyths. It was about £30 reduced to £22. Smyths are now selling it for £30 as the offer has expired.

amazon are selling it as a Black Friday deal for £25 claiming the previous price was £45! I can absolutely guarantee it was never that price outside of the 30 day window that they legally have to sell it as to justify it as a sale price.

You used to be able to get a bargain exactly because you waited and they needed to clear out😁

Gone are the days.
Few years ago I got smart plugs. They are really practical so was looking for more. Nope. Not buying at original price even with 40%.

They ruined sales hump😑

RaininSummer · 24/11/2022 19:46

I find it handy if I happen to need a new household gadget at the right time but otherwise can happily ignore it.
