To be a bit put off by people "cheers"-ing their food?

Like, they'll share an sandwich and say "cheers/bon appetit" like you do with a wine glass, and touch the food together?

It's weird, and when the food touches its 🤢

I’ve never seen anyone do this.

HamHand · 21/11/2022 18:54

Not at all weird. Admittedly I mainly do this with my toddler but what’s the issue with food touching?

StoneofDestiny · 21/11/2022 18:54

Never seen this before gross.

WhatALotOfAFussAboutNothing · 21/11/2022 18:54

I have never seen anyone do this. Ever!

catsonahottinroof · 21/11/2022 18:55

It's the first I've heard of it - I don't like it either.

BamBamBilla · 21/11/2022 18:55

It's only for Instagram. I doubt they've even eaten it. No-one does this in real life.

Tothemoonandbackx · 21/11/2022 18:55

Where have you been eating??? 😂😂😂

MollieMarie · 21/11/2022 18:55

YANBU. I've seen people do this. So weird.

YukoandHiro · 21/11/2022 19:13

I've done it with my DH and biscuits but it's weird with anyone outside a v immediate family (toddler , or DH to be silly)

UsingChangeofName · 21/11/2022 19:33

Where are you eating, and who with ?

I have literally never seen anyone do this.

PinkSyCo · 21/11/2022 19:33

People share a sandwich?

avocadoandchill · 21/11/2022 19:34

I have never seen this

avocadoandchill · 21/11/2022 19:34

Why do they do this? Is it a good luck thing?

loveinthe90s · 21/11/2022 19:36

Literally no one does this

I have never seen this before.

MollieMarie · 21/11/2022 19:42

I'm surprised so many people haven't seen this tbh

AuntieEntity · 21/11/2022 19:46

Haha, DD and I do this! In my defence she's 4 and it's a bit of fun. Let's face it, any germs she's got I 100% already have, so tapping our biscuits against one another is the least of our worries.

HuntingHappiness · 21/11/2022 19:49

I’ve seen a few people do it on TV & thought it was odd.
Factual stuff, not just soaps or whatever. I’ve never seen anyone out in public do it though.

Do you do it before you start eating or with part eaten food? I assume as you mention germs you mean half eaten food, It sounds totally bizarre

Pixiedust1234 · 21/11/2022 19:52

Never seen it done but I think if I was in a group that tried to do this I would quickly lick my sandwich first. That'll put them right off 😂

loveinthe90s · 21/11/2022 19:54

I stand corrected! It just sounds a bit tragic to me, like people who say nom nom etc 🤢

FrozenGhost · 21/11/2022 19:57

I wouldn't say I see this a lot but I don't see how it's that gross. So what if the food briefly touches for a second. It's not like they lick each other's food.

AuntieEntity · 21/11/2022 20:03

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair We do it at the start, so we won't have bitten the biscuit before doing it. Bit like when you raise a toast with your glass of champers. Totally bizarre is a stretch, it's a bit of fun with my kid. 😂

I don't know why it just grosses me out for some reason
