Like, they'll share an sandwich and say "cheers/bon appetit" like you do with a wine glass, and touch the food together?

It's weird, and when the food touches its 🤢

I agree, very annoying along with high fiving everything.

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair We do it at the start, so we won't have bitten the biscuit before doing it. Bit like when you raise a toast with your glass of champers. Totally bizarre is a stretch, it's a bit of fun with my kid. 😂

I wasn't very clear, I didn't specifically mean you were strange just that the concept is to me

I don't understand though where the germs would be coming from if the food hasn't been eaten

Tubbyinthehottub · 22/11/2022 15:58

Never heard of this but YANBU, it's gross. And what if someone has something minging like a tuna sandwich?

TinyTear · 22/11/2022 16:33

BamBamBilla · 21/11/2022 18:55

It's only for Instagram. I doubt they've even eaten it. No-one does this in real life.

unless with a child!
i used to do this with my toddlers

AuntieEntity · 22/11/2022 18:38

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair Ahh well, I think for my part I was just mitigating any potential complaints about it being a bit germy by pointing out that with a child, life is an endless game of plague-dodging. I get that it probably seems a bit weird to an external observer.

FrozenGhost · 23/11/2022 10:53

If they are sharing something like a sandwich the food has already touched on the plate anyway. It was part of the same piece of bread.

BosaNova · 23/11/2022 10:58

You also have people amiling at empty plates in stock photos.

Basically No one irl does this🙄 And if you meet that one in a million, just don't look

girlmom21 · 23/11/2022 11:00

Is it someone you were eating with or someone else who happens to be in the same pub?

It wouldn't bother me. It doesn't matter if the food touches before anyones taken a bite as surely the germs would only be whatever's already on your food?

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 23/11/2022 11:00

You've just reminded me of one of my favourite videos 😂

AllTogetherAllAlone · 23/11/2022 11:03

I’ve never seen it but not surprised it happens. It’s weird. Makes me wonder though how it came about to do it with drinks?

thehorsehasnowbolted · 23/11/2022 11:17

Do they cheer their food after they've taken a bite or before?

Before.

So you might have both bought hotdogs from a fair... And before eating you cheers the dogs and they touch and then you chow down.

They doooooo!

I SAW IT.

It a bit late to 'not look' after they've done it, isn't it... It's lasts a moment. It's not like you can look away from something that isn't happening...

AllTogetherAllAlone · 23/11/2022 11:46
