Does anyone actually buy anything from Ann Summers anymore?

I’ve seen some minor ‘celebs’ are endorsing Ann Summers, tbh I forgot it existed in recent years! It was always very expensive and with the likes of Love Honey etc now I struggle to see why anyone would buy stuff from AS?

AIBU to think it’s had it’s day?

Never have!

SlashBeef · 20/11/2022 13:48

Nope. Only ever went as a teen to giggle at the toys

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 20/11/2022 13:49

No I used to before there were other options but these days it’s all a bit overpriced and not good enough quality for the money and just feels a bit tacky. Idk who their target audience is these days.

JustFrustrated · 20/11/2022 13:58

Yep, it's my "go to" for Bras. They're a good price, they fit well and last forever. Better choice than many places too.

Don't bother with the toys anymore, but used to. I still think they're the best for that for new starters to the toy area too

Bathtubbathing · 20/11/2022 21:40

I was trying on their underwear in store yesterday. The cut is not flattering to my body shape. If it had been, I'd have spent money in there.

The staff in there were really helpful. Someone helped me select different items and I overheard another staff member advising on toy purchases.

Foul shop.

Haha, major flashbacks reading this !

Foul shop.

Why? Confused

Foul shop.

Care to expand?

SkinnyFatte · 20/11/2022 21:54

No. I'm quite vanilla in that department 😳

SandyY2K · 20/11/2022 21:54

If people didn't buy from them, they'd be out of business.

Dolares · 20/11/2022 21:54

A store opened near me a few months back. Whenever i walk past i never see any customers in there. It replaced a Disney Store. My DC were gutted.

VisitingThem · 20/11/2022 21:56

No I agree its overpriced for the quality.

EmmaDilemma5 · 20/11/2022 21:57

At a time when shops are struggling more than ever and staff face the realistic prospect of losing their jobs, I'm struggling to see why you feel the need to start a thread about how outdated YOU feel a shop is.

Unless you literally represent everyone, your opinion is just that.

Trying to encourage loads of women to put down a firm reliant on sales to women seems very callous to me.

😂 I don't think they had anything to do with Disney closing all stores

louderthan · 20/11/2022 22:11

The staff are great. Super friendly and helpful without being pushy.
I've bought underwear from there loads, they almost always have some sort of sale on. I seem to remember they took over Knickerbox?

😆 of course not but my 4 year old doesn't see it that way.

Georgeskitchen · 20/11/2022 22:19

Does anyone still host ann Summers parties? I went to couple years ago very overpriced goods I wasn't fooled into buying anything 😅

4thdegree · 20/11/2022 22:21

I haven’t been in it for years and years. I bought a couple of things for a hen party in about 2010 and even then I was surprised it was still going. Love Honey has overtaken it for toys and the underwear was (presumably still is) overpriced

4thdegree · 20/11/2022 22:21

I do miss La Senza though, would rather have kept that than Ann summers!

LabRat90 · 20/11/2022 22:25

I worked there for a while and honestly it was an inside joke as to how poorly made the products were. I bought things from there with my discount but they were on par with Asda for twice the price

LabRat90 · 20/11/2022 22:29

Also the majority of the customers were normal or incredibly shy/embarrassed but my god! There were some weird and borderline scary people who came in. Still oddly miss that place...

FreakyFrie · 20/11/2022 22:37

I always get stuff in their sale. It’s always a good price then and looks nice. I haven’t had any issue with the quality personally.

Partner doesn’t complain either 😂

FrontDoor · 20/11/2022 22:37

Tacky and definitely had it’s day.

Same as this. I buy online as no shop where I'm from but I like their stuff. I bought off a different (cheaper) website recently and the quality was awful.
