Alternative to Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Granola?

ForgetBarbie · 18/11/2022 17:02

Sorry, posting for traffic!

Does anyone have an alternative to the above cereal? I’m seriously in love with the fruit & but Granola but I just can’t justify spending £2.50 on it when it only lasts me four days! I only have it for breakfast and have small ish servings so I have no clue why it doesn’t even last a week. In my defence, the bag is really small.

I tried Tesco’s version but it’s just so bland. Wondered if anyone buys a cheaper one which nearly tastes as good?

The cheaper way is to make your own, it is very simple, just google a recipe. You make it cheaper by putting fewer nuts in the mix.

Mosaic123 · 18/11/2022 17:05

Or buy a cheap one and add the yummy bits yourself?

ForgetBarbie · 18/11/2022 17:16

I won’t be able to make it as good as Kellogg’s though!!

Can you use it as a topping on other cereal? That kind of stuff is lovely but expensive, try putting it on top of cornflakes or muesli or oats?

brighterthanthemoon · 18/11/2022 17:53

Ah I was going to suggest the tesco

jetadore · 18/11/2022 17:56

Breakfast cereal is nutritionally shite, you’d be better off eating the box.

Okbye · 18/11/2022 17:58

Use Cheerios aswell! I do this with expensive cereals to make them last longer. Cheerios go nicely with other cereals and make a good 'mixer' with a sweeter cereal. I use them half and half with Krave aswell 😁

I like Quaker raisin granola.

ThrowAwayOne · 18/11/2022 18:00

Mix it with one of the cheaper brands maybe? I love the chocolate version of it so I don't blame you.

DDivaStar · 18/11/2022 18:01

The sainsburys honey nut granola is really nice.

We aren't thick we know that. But it's tasty.

Depends on the cereal surely!

Hardly the point. The OP is asking about alternatives to something she likes, not exploring the nutritional content.

I like the chocolate one too but it doesn't last five minutes!

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 18/11/2022 18:12

My kids all love this so a bag literally lasts us one day!! I do find it quite sweet so mixing it with a cheaper blander one might be good tbh. Or just on top of some crunchy nut cornflakes?

brighterthanthemoon · 18/11/2022 18:14

Have you tried weighing out what they say a portion is? I mean we all know it's a lie but you could pad put a "portion" with cheerios as pp said

I went to have it for breakfast this morning and it was gone. I don't remember eating it all but I must have.

It's lovely with the white chocolate kvarg protein yoghurt and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Not healthy in the slightest but yum.

Lcb123 · 18/11/2022 18:22

Can you get a supermarket own granola and mix it with the Kellogg one?

Quaker raisin one

TeoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/11/2022 18:28

Large bag of bark chippings from the garden centre. Lasts for ages and is completely natural, I think.

Heyahun · 18/11/2022 18:29

Started making our own recently and it lasts weeks it’s bloody delicious!!

Thank you guys! I think I may mix it with the cheaper one so it can last just a tad longer. Kellogg’s have intentionally made the product so tasty but have put fuck all in the packaging. What sort of scam is this?!
