Alternative to Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Granola?

ForgetBarbie · 18/11/2022 17:02

Sorry, posting for traffic!

Does anyone have an alternative to the above cereal? I’m seriously in love with the fruit & but Granola but I just can’t justify spending £2.50 on it when it only lasts me four days! I only have it for breakfast and have small ish servings so I have no clue why it doesn’t even last a week. In my defence, the bag is really small.

I tried Tesco’s version but it’s just so bland. Wondered if anyone buys a cheaper one which nearly tastes as good?

Make your own by roasting b oats, assorted seeds, nuts and nut butter ( I use almond but peanut may be more crunchy nutty) and roast until crispy with coconut oil and honey or syrup. Then top with the crunchy nut to make it go further.

It’s addictive!!!!! Almost as good as M&S triple chocolate crunch granola which I just can’t have in the house.

I put mine on top of Greek yoghurt with some fruit to try make it more controlled aka not me eating three bowls in one sitting.

I bet you’re fun at parties

Yes, but at least they'll be sucking the corners of the wine box rather than drinking the contents! 😁

Home made granola is incredibly delicious. Might have the same problem with it lasting though. Mix with plain rolled oats, perhaps toasted?

Aldi's Really Nutty granola is amazing

Haha omg this is literally me. I don’t even like cereal but I’m trying to eat three meals a day so I thought I’d buy it. The first day I had it I literally ate three portions throughout the day😂 so bloody good.

I may buy a cheaper one and do similar to you. Just add fruits or have it alongside yoghurt

We buy the family size bag (600g) when it’s on offer in Asda for £3. Have it with yoghurt and some fruit. I feel your pain. It’s so good.

Movinghouseatlast · 18/11/2022 19:47

Honestly, make your own. It will be better and cheaper.

I would do 500g porridge oats, about 150g hazelnuts, 2tsp cinnamon in a lined with greaseproof paper baking tray.

In a pan melt 4 tablespoons golden syrup, 1 tablespoon Malt Extract and around 50ml vegetable oil or coconut oil.

Pour it over the Oats and nuts, stir it up until it clumps together. If you want it sweeter add a bit more golden syrup. Roast in a low oven at around 160 degrees turning every 10 minutes for around half an hour or until its pale golden brown. Allow to cool then add around 50g of coconut flakes and as much chocolate chips as you want.

I make my own. Have a Google for Nigella's recipe. It's basically oats (I add some flaked rice from a wholefood shop) flaked almonds, walnuts etc. Dried fruit, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, ground ginger and cinnamon, olive oil. You can add sugar but I don't any more. Roast for half an hour in a low oven. It's so good! Can customise with coconut, chia seeds, whatever.

Oh yes Asda, that’s a good shout! I’ll keep a look out and I’ll stock up on them if I ever see it. Thank you!

Breakfast cereal is nutritionally shite, you’d be better off eating the box.

Oats, nuts and sugar are nutritionally shite are they?

I agree most breakfast cereals aren't great, but granola seems an unlikely one to take a pop at!

I'm addicted to Dorst Cereal Nutty granola.. often just have that for tea with a yogurt
Probably much the same price though
