To ask where to stay in Northumberland

Just looking for a nice relaxing week away after what will be a hectic couple of months. Wont be until May/June, its an area neither of us have visited. 2 maybe 4 adults no pets no kids. Probably coastal, but not ruling out any thing else.
Give me your suggestions please.

Amble, Alnmouth, Bamburgh, Seahouses. All coastal, all beautiful and all have tons of accommodation. I'm local but if I was holidaying here I would stay here:

Warkworth is nice if you are looking for coastal has a castle, nice beach, some good pubs and a walk along the river. Bambourgh and Craster too. Alnwick if you want more in the was of restaurants etc. My absolute favourite is Newton by the Sea but it is teeny tiny. If you want quiet and tranquility it's a hit.

Alnmouth, Warkworth, Bamburgh, Beadnell, Craster, Berwick. All coastal, all lovely, places to eat, good walking.

The boat from Seahouses to the farne islands is a must do. It isn't my favourite place coastal place to visit and not sure would stay there (if I wasn't local) as there are prettier places. However fish and chips and boat trip a defiante must!

Amble or Warkworth

100% agree with these recommendations. Bamburgh is a must visit. In case you decide against coastal, Morpeth and Hexham are nice market towns.

And Corbridge. And Wooler - really good if you like walking. Also, NT places well worth a visit, Wallington, Cragside. Villages of Ford and Etal well worth a visit although a bit out of the way to stay

Rothbury also lovely great walks and views.

I live in Warkworth, but would stay in Alnmouth so I could have a daily beach walk. The Arts Festival is on in Alnmouth in June, always worth a visit.

Warkworth Castle is English Heritage.

Following Covid a lot of the pubs/restaurants are closing the kitchen by 8pm, factor that into your plans.

Look out for the BBC Garden Magazine which has a '2 for 1' entrance booklet, you can go to Alnwick Gardens and others on it. Alnwick Castle is privately owned by the Duke, sometimes does promotions, worth joining their Facebook page.

I meant to add that Northside Surf is the best local company for stand up and paddle. They have Coquet river sessions (tidal), as well as beach sessions.

Alnmouth is beautiful. Seahorses is lovely but I would say to visit rather than stay, Alnwick is a must to visit also, especially barter books!

A night on Holy Island is a must, just gorgeous.

I love Barter books. There's some great cycling routes too if that's your thing.

I caught covid in Barter Books and it ruined my holiday, sadly it will now forever be associated!! However, it was an amazing place.

OP I echo all these. Seahouses, Amble, Bamburgh. We stayed further down in Newbiggin by the Sea which is quite a nice little coastal town. Next time we'll stay a bit further up near Alnwick I think, we are going again to visit all the things I missed out on last time! It's a beautiful

Beautiful part of the country, stunning beaches, just wild and open and free.

Alnwick is stunning. It's a lovely town in its own right with the Castle and gardens. It's about 40 mins down to corbridge and hadrians wall for roman stuff and 20 mins to alnmouth and great beaches and dunes. Maybe 25 mins to dunstanburgh, bamburgh, seahouses etc.. best of all worlds!

How many will you be? I can PM you a fab place to stay right in the centre (not mine!) That is also dog friendly if relevant.

Warkworth is very nice. You can do day trips to Alnmouth and Alnwick.

Seahouses, Beadnell, Low Newton

Northumberland is huge! The coast is stunning, but inland is gorgeous too. Dont stay too far north up the coast, because it'll put you a really long way from some of the inland attractions. One holiday in Berwick I Tweed, we'd booked Vindolanda Roman fort - 92 miles away!

From Alnmouth train station you can easily get to Newcastle or Edinburgh.
If you go up to Edinburgh, get a coast side seat as the journey is very scenic.

Alnwick is gorgeous - especially in dodgy weather, as you can hide out in Barter books or the treehouse cafe.

Wooler is great for walks. Bamburgh is stunning for coast and castle. Amble is good for boat trips to see seals and puffins.

It's hard to find an ugly part of Northumberland.
