As above WhatsApp not working. Has it affected you yet?

OP posts:
BigSandyBalls2015 · 25/10/2022 09:40

I would miss it a lot, message DD at uni quite a lot on it and send photos etc. Also quite a few groups on there, family, friends etc. Very easy way to stay in touch.

10storeylovesong · 25/10/2022 09:41

Ah I'd sent a message to my husband this morning and wondered why it hadn't sent. Thought there was an issue with my phone! I'd definitely miss it. I'm on various WhatsApp groups for both children's school years and many sports groups and so handy to let us know of any changes to training, organising lifts or reminding me of things I've forgotten!!

Sparklesocks · 25/10/2022 09:41

I use it quite a lot to chat with friends/family so I’d miss it if it disappeared forever (although presumably something else would pop up and take its place). But being down for a bit isn’t that big a deal.

luciaann · 25/10/2022 09:42

I use it for group messages alot so I'd miss it but I'd also have a lot more free time

FlowerArranger · 25/10/2022 09:43

Surely one of the greatest benefits of WhatsApp is that you can call internationally for free! For me it would be disastrous if it were to disappear.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 25/10/2022 09:44

I prefer to use telegram, but yes I would miss WhatsApp because a lot of the people I speak to use it, if everyone moved to telegram I'd be delighted and would never use WhatsApp again.

AllAboutMargot · 25/10/2022 09:46

Thanks for the heads up OP, I hadn't realised it was down. I use it a lot and would miss it.

SleeplessInEngland · 25/10/2022 09:47

The cowardly OP seems to have fucked off but I'm sure few would disagree that whatsapp is more useful than it isn't.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 25/10/2022 09:48

My DP lives in Australia and WhatsApp is how we communicate through messages and calls, I'd certainly miss it if it never worked again. We could use Messenger but for us the call quality isn't as good

extrapineappleonmypizza · 25/10/2022 09:50

I'm glad I saw this thread - I thought it was just me who was struggling with WhatsApp today. How long's it been down for?

Malfi · 25/10/2022 09:51

I would definitely miss it. I use it for free video/audio calling every day.

Tort · 25/10/2022 09:52

I use it loads but telegram has very similar functionality so I’d just switch to that.

Cowardly??

I don’t really know the difference between WhatsApp and just texting m. Is there a distinct difference?

(I do use WhatsAppbut only as it seems to be what we all use in my circle)

I live abroad, texting my family and friends back home would cost each time with text but wouldn’t with WhatsApp

JudgeRindersMinder · 25/10/2022 09:53

I didn’t realise it was down but I did wonder as a few messages I’d sent were just hanging

It’s literally just pinged back into life

BlancmanegeBunny · 25/10/2022 09:53

A relative is in hospital, no visiting due to covid and no mobile signal. WhatsApp is our means of communication!

ilovesooty · 25/10/2022 09:54

I needed it for phone calls yesterday morning. There was terrible phone reception where I was.

Blondieturtle · 25/10/2022 09:55

If it goes away forever, I will surely miss it. My friends and family live abroad, and it is the only way I can interact with them without spending a fortune. I remember paying 20p for a single text message. It is extremely simple to share a photo or video.😫

justasking111 · 25/10/2022 09:56

Family photos, messages. Family all off to church this morning harvest festival. DIL WhatsApp grandson ill. Luckily noticed it hadn't sent so had to individual message all. So it's useful to us

2pinkginsplease · 25/10/2022 09:57

I like WhatsApp, when sending a normal text it costs extra to put an emoji or a video or send a photo where as it doesn’t with WhatsApp,

Dalaidramailama · 25/10/2022 09:57

Yes I like my group chats.

Theimpossiblegirl · 25/10/2022 09:58

SavoirFlair · 25/10/2022 09:27

YABVU. This is not the Chat forum.

what is your “AIBU” question?

Ooh the thread police.

Blondieturtle · 25/10/2022 09:59

Forget about group chat , although most of it is gossip, but it's good fun.😋

FrankTheThunderbird · 25/10/2022 09:59

I'd miss it because it would cost me a fortune to send all the gifs/ random pics I send my mum and the dc.
I guess we'd get used to opening the sms app instead though.

Oh and I can send group texts on my mid range Samsung. I didnt know that until just now because I hardly ever sms.

SocksAndTheCity · 25/10/2022 09:59

ShineOnYouLikeMorningStar · 25/10/2022 09:33

I've never used it. I don't think I even know what the WhatsApp icon/symbol looks like.

Me neither. I don't use anything owned by facebook and I have unlimited free texts.
