If you still have all your little forks?

YABU - I have all of the forks, OF BOTH SIZES, gifted to me at my wedding, 10 years on now. Even if I do know his name I'm sure I would never entertain a contract with the green man.

YANBU - Like all good Christian women, I have only 3 little forks. My piety is evident by my paucity.

We didn't get any forks for our wedding, what an odd choice of gift.

However we have since bought a set of cake forks.

Our socks are still lost though.

Aposterhasnoname · 25/10/2022 06:10

is this a regional thing maybe, I have no idea what you’re talking about. What are little forks, who the heck is the green man, what does being Christian have to do with anything, and what do socks have to do with forks?

Theblackdogagain · 25/10/2022 06:12

We didn't get cake forks, not posh enough. I do however have my kids old toddler cutlery and I use them at work as they fit into a salad box. They are cars themes and look like spanners!

StopStreet · 25/10/2022 06:13

Cake forks.
As wedding gifts.
Presumably the devil?

I have some of my mother's...maybe that's why she got divorced...

NinkyNonkNausea · 25/10/2022 06:16

Cutlery sets in the US co.e with two sizes of forks:

Too large for anything other than a massive salad

and

Perfect for everything else (the glorious little fork)

@MumofSpud poor in cutlery but rich in virtue, thanks for asking.

YANBU! I am a god fearing woman with none of the little forks left 8 years in. 🤣 I had to buy a new set last year.

DesMoulinsRouge · 25/10/2022 06:22

I've got cake forks. They're very handy, didn't know they were posh.

NinkyNonkNausea · 25/10/2022 06:46

@DesMoulinsRouge full set or a DECENT paltry few?

savoycabbage · 25/10/2022 06:56

Good woman, I have three sizes of forks. And I have 'splayds'.

I keep my cake forks in a jam jar next to an empty glass cake dome.

My starter forks were of some use for a door few years as the dc used to use them when they were smaller but too big for children's cutlery.

I've got FOUR kinds of knives.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 25/10/2022 07:00

Main forks, pudding forks and cake forks. All have their uses.

Whatsleftnow · 25/10/2022 07:04

Of forks I have many, alas and alack my teaspoons are few.

Quinque · 25/10/2022 07:10

Cake forks are invariably designed for right handed people and are therefore the work of the devil.
Does anyone still have fish knives?

Vampirethriller · 25/10/2022 07:13

I've got fish knives but they're disappearing one by one despite there being nobody in the house who uses a fish knife.

WashableVelvet · 25/10/2022 07:14

It’s teaspoons that disappear here. The dinner forks and dessert forks are fine, the teaspoons evaporate I think.

Tlolljs · 25/10/2022 07:15

I know where are all my teaspoons

NinkyNonkNausea · 25/10/2022 07:18

@WashableVelvet and @Whatsleftnow
You are beset by the same demons I'm afraid, but god is surely pleased by your resilience.

I have a full set, but they weren't mine, but my MiL's. They're 80 years old.

HuzzahIndeed · 25/10/2022 07:32

We got a set of posh champagne flutes when we got engaged that we've been too afraid to use so they've literally never been out of their box. 🤣

My husband inherited a posh cutlery set including little forks but he never wanted to use it so that too sits in it's boxed unused. That makes me sad because they were his grans and she used them for special occassions and I'm sure she'd rather they were still used.

They don't have little green men.

DesMoulinsRouge · 25/10/2022 07:33

@NinkyNonkNausea full set.
Also came with one of those triangular things for serving the cake. Cake slice?

HuzzahIndeed · 25/10/2022 07:34

We lose knives. Our teaspoons seem to multiple. Maybe the children steal them when we eat out.

This is very outing but we also have a full set of splades. 🤣

I know people sometimes say MN is a parallel universe. This is the first time I’ve felt so alienated.

teezletangler · 25/10/2022 07:39

I have THREE sizes. All wedding gifts (and all requested by me, believe it or not). 10 years on the mid-sized luncheon fork has not proved nearly as imperative as I had expected, but cake forks are actually brilliant. Not only do they elevate the dessert experience, but they are the perfect child-sized forks for my 5 and 7 year olds who have moved on from kid cutlery but still find dinner (and luncheon!) forks too large.
