If you still have all your little forks?

YABU - I have all of the forks, OF BOTH SIZES, gifted to me at my wedding, 10 years on now. Even if I do know his name I'm sure I would never entertain a contract with the green man.

YANBU - Like all good Christian women, I have only 3 little forks. My piety is evident by my paucity.

We still have all our little forks but we did only get married 3 months ago.

HuzzahIndeed · 25/10/2022 07:52

We have a couple of sporks. Does that count?

This is very outing but we also have a full set of splades. 🤣

I have 4 splades. They came with the silver cutlery set my mother talked me into buying for my bottom drawer. It had 6 place settings.

Dinner knife and fork smaller knife and fork. Soup spoon dessert spoon tea spoon and 2 serving sp
oons. I was single at the time. I did get married and also got given silver pastry forks and fruit spoons. My mother also gave me 2 boxes which each contained a single place setting of silver cutlery to match my other silver. The pattern I have is King's.

Tbh I have rarely used my silver prefering to use the stainless steel cutlery I have including my pastry forks and my fruit spoons. they look like small soup spoons

RedElephants · 25/10/2022 08:06

I love sweet corn.. from a giant green man GrinGrinGrin

And the cutlery drawer goes Knives, Forks then Spoons...
(refers to a very old thread!)

Do silver teaspoons count?

ShaunaTheSheep · 25/10/2022 08:08

Mine goes spoon fork knife.

And I am bereft, I have no splayd to use by the television set.

is this a regional thing maybe, I have no idea what you’re talking about. What are little forks, who the heck is the green man, what does being Christian have to do with anything, and what do socks have to do with forks?

I have no idea what OP is talking about either 🤷‍♀️

bigbadbarry · 25/10/2022 08:09

I believe that odd socks morph into teaspoons

SoupDragon · 25/10/2022 08:10

I have a full set of knives and forks for dessert or starters if that's what you mean.

I don't have a green man though and I suspect I might have half your socks in my odd sock collection.

No, I think teaspoons morph into rubber bands, which never seem to die and of which I have a full (tiny) drawer in the dresser. I also have many, many little plastic coin bags, in spite of never needing or using them. Where did they come from?

However, as a fully paid up atheist, I have very rarely lost a fork. There was one item of cutlery I took to work and kept in a drawer for my lunches there. I think it was a fork. I carelessly left it on the draining board in the kitchen, and someone else must have used pinched it and I never saw it again. Sad

Socks will stay together if you flype them. One of the few household rituals my mother taught me which have stuck.

Right, now Google has told me what a splayd is, I can confirm I don't own one and never have.

I have some mini forks for kids which I bought for camping a few years ago.

I can't be doing with unnecessary excess.

I too had to google what a splayde is - but I have one!
I have been calling it 'the funny fork' (obviously I am lower class)

Ghostlight · 25/10/2022 08:32

I am blessed with an insane abundance of forks of all sizes. I didn't know they had different names or were for eating specific things I just sort of thought that there was no standard sizing among fork manufacturers, like womens jeans.

I have all mine from an elderly relative because I told her that my house mate had burnt the bottom of all our teaspoons. She gave me an old style suitcase full of cutlery and I have never had to buy any more.

RJnomore1 · 25/10/2022 08:35

After 23 years of marriage I finally cracked at the fork and the soup spoon situation last Christmas and bought myself a new canters with all types of fork which is kept in the box and monitored in and monitored out by me.

i don’t know where the wedding stuff went I think he’s eaten it over the years.

It's my knives that go missing but it's no mystery. The children carry them off - either for breaking Lego bits apart or cutting clay, and then hide them either under a bed or under the sofa. Occasionally I find a treasure trove and my knife troubles are temporarily relieved before it begins again.

God know why the plastic Lego splitter or the knife kept in the clay jar specifically for the purpose are not sufficient. Bloody children.

savoycabbage · 25/10/2022 08:56

Splayds are common as muck so you are clearly very posh having only one.

Nope, it's definitely knives, forks, spoon...

And totally off topic, my youngest is called sean, we didn't have a name for him when he was born, not for a few days after tbh, then Dh came during visiting hours and said 'what about Sean? I was watching Shaun the Sheep with eldest child last night?'
So Sean it was 😆
