Governemnt energy payment credited qnd deducted from account

I had the £66 government payment credited to my energy account but it was deducted today with a note stating reversed credit.
AIBU to not have seen this coming? I can't find anything in the media to suggest this was being withdrawn. Thankfully I kept up my regular payments so won't feel the loss. Still annoyed though.

It hasn’t been withdrawn, have you contacted your supplier?

Does your supplier pay it into your bank account?

Is it being sent to your bank account?

Have you checked your bank account? It’ appeared like that on my statement (British Gas) but the money had been transferred into my bank.

Some suppliers are paying it onto the bank account rather than the energy account e.g. British Gas among others

British Gas, EDF, SSE and Ovo Energy are paying customers who pay by direct debit the discount into their bank accounts

Bulb, E.ON, E.ON Next, Scottish Power, Shell Energy, Octopus Energy, Utilita and Utility Warehouse will apply the £400 rebate as a discount off bills.

I had it credited to my energy account (I'm with octopus) but today it was deducted. Says reverse credit and is for the exact amount £66.
I have just spotted it, checked my bank and no credit or pending credit. Seems they have just reversed the government credit paid.

I have emailed Octopus. They are closed now so can't call till tomorrow
Anyone else with Octopus? Have you had the same thing?

If OP's supplier is one who is paying into the bank account I'd assume that crediting then debiting the discount over the energy account is for internal accounting purposes to show the discount was received then paid out.

I just copied from a newspaper article so maybe they got it wrong then

I am with Octopus and my account had the credit and it is still there. They don't pay it to your bank as far as I know. This sounds like they made an error.

I haven't had a credit to my bank account. The credit was only on my energy account. That is how Octopus paid it, as a rebate.
I have checked my bank pending payments and nothing showing.

I'm with Octopus and the £66 was credited on 5th October. It hasn't been debited again.

Had Octopus reduced your direct debit by £66 as they reduced mine by £66 so that the government payment made it up to the original amount

My DD was reduced by them by 66 a month and now they want to double my original payment. It is a mess. And their balance forecast is predicting double the consumption of last year too.

My direct debit goes out on the 3rd. The £66 was credited to my electricity account on the 6th (so it showed as Credit added +£66, like an extra payment), the same day it showed on the electricity bill as Refund £66 which was taking it out of the electricity account and paying it into my bank account. It didn’t show on my bank account until the 11th.

I’m with EDF, electricity only, I submit a meter reading via the app on the last evening of each month.

They did but I made an extra payment so I am in credit.

This does not show it as a debit - this shows a debit card collection, ie you made them a payment if 67? This is not the same 66 cost of living money.

Scottish Power are paying it back to bank accounts.. I had mine this week. Have paid it onto my energy account.

Genuinely don't understand why they would pay it to people's bank accounts and jot credit their energy bills which is the intent of the payment.

If the debit card collection is your monthly payment then I think they meant to reverse that and have reversed the wrong one.
