Governemnt energy payment credited qnd deducted from account

I had the £66 government payment credited to my energy account but it was deducted today with a note stating reversed credit.
AIBU to not have seen this coming? I can't find anything in the media to suggest this was being withdrawn. Thankfully I kept up my regular payments so won't feel the loss. Still annoyed though.

This does not show it as a debit - this shows a debit card collection, ie you made them a payment if 67? This is not the same 66 cost of living money.

You need to open the screenshot. The reversal is at the top

This screenshot shows the reversal. The other screenshot had to be opened to show it.

My direct debit goes out on the 3rd. The £66 was credited to my electricity account on the 6th (so it showed as Credit added +£66, like an extra payment), the same day it showed on the electricity bill as Refund £66 which was taking it out of the electricity account and paying it into my bank account. It didn’t show on my bank account until the 11th.

I’m with EDF, electricity only, I submit a meter reading via the app on the last evening of each month.

I'm with EDF and mine showed like that too. Which is different to the OP

British Gas, EDF, SSE and Ovo Energy are paying customers who pay by direct debit the discount into their bank accounts

Bulb, E.ON, E.ON Next, Scottish Power, Shell Energy, Octopus Energy, Utilita and Utility Warehouse will apply the £400 rebate as a discount off bills.

Well I'm with BG paying by DD and they've credited £66 to my electricity account but not to my bank account!

dementedpixie · 18/10/2022 20:44

Other BG customers have said they have got the energy payment to their bank account about 8 days after they made their direct debit payment

I will need to check tomorrow and update you all. I would love something to be straightforward for once, but with this government but I am not holding out much hope!!

Do you pay by direct debit? Some companies are issuing a voucher for customers who don't, which appears as yours does - a credit and a reversal of the credit when the voucher is issued. It has to be recorded on your account somehow and that's probably the most logical way of doing so.

If not, you'll have to seek clarification from your supplier.

I pay by DD. The payment was issued as a credit to my energy account and then deducted a few days later.
No voucher, no bank payment. Credit to account, then deduction, same amounts.

OP I’m with a different supplier but it took five days (including a weekend) from the electricity account showing it had been credited and then taken off, to showing in my bank account. Hope yours arrives soon.

Mollymoostoo · 19/10/2022 10:25

Thanks all.
Octopus credits the energy account not bank account.
I called them this morning and they can't see why the credit was reversed. The team leader was in a meeting so they are going to look into it and email me. They didn't want to give a reason but said they would sort it out.
Thanks everyone for responding 😀

I'm on a smart meter so didn't need to send a meter reading and over paid by the amount of the government discount.
