AIBU?
To ask what’s in your survival bag?
50shadesofmagnolia · 17/10/2022 13:19
I wanted to buy a unique present for my friend. We are in our 40’s both full on jobs what should I put into a little bag that could save your day? Im thinking safety pins, plasters, phone charger? but what else? What would you put in yours? Im
wondering if there is a common list or are we all looking for different things
Im also thinking a bag for the car what would go in there- power pack for phone, blanket.
bonus points for ecological credentials
Am I being unreasonable?

Pain killers , tampon/pad , wet wipes , a foldaway bag for shopping ( you can get thin /strong ones that fold up tiny ), sunscreen , breath mints.
SBAM · 17/10/2022 13:40
Reusable cutlery set (would be so useful when the shop has run out of plastic ones and you’ve picked up a pasta salad for lunch).
I always used to have a pouch in my handbag with: plasters, phone charger and power bank, glasses wipes, tissues, nail file, paracetamol, spare tights, a mini tin of burts bees hand salve, a lip balm, mints/gum, and I have a mini Swiss Army knife on my keys that has scissors, tweezers and a small blade.

Oh, and in my car: picnic blanket, bottled water and cereal bars, hi vis vests, first aid kit, roll of blue paper towels and a torch.

Self heating mug of tea/coffee/hot chocolate for the car. They are brilliant! Individual packed big wipes/towels. A paper road map.

We've also got a bio lite - it runs off burning wood and is relatively small- can boil water and has a fry pan attachment and can charge a phone or torch

Oooooo I’ve got actual survival bag vibes now. I think I need a car list, handbag list and zombie apocalypse list.
Actually in this current climate I think survival bag is probably more relevant than ever. 😫

ReadySetDontGo · 17/10/2022 14:41
Of course it is. Where I live we’ve been told for ages by the government to have one.

I have a survival bag, its a nice cross the body tote filled with pyjamas, toothbrush, toothpaste, antiperspirant and clean knickers. I keep it in my car and it's great for unexpected overnight stays. Most frequently at sisters or sis in laws house but also ready made hospital bag should I ever need it.
In my handbag I keep, small scissors, small sellotape, stamps, safety pin, hair band, £20, plasters, paracetamol, bamboo cutlery, hand gel and baby wipes.
