Well I know IWBU to watch it but I’ve had a stressful week at work and needed something that didn’t require too much thought.

anyway, here’s my AIBU. I watched the episode tonight where Khloe has a baby via a surrogate and it made me so uncomfortable. She’s lying in the hospital bed like she’s given birth, the birth mother cleared out the picture and just the sheer amount of money that has likely changed hands because she wanted a baby with her ex.

AIBU to think it feels exploitative?

The whole premise of this show is exploitation.

She didn't kick the birth mother out of her birthing room. Khloe had another room where she took her son to bond!

@youagainomg i didn’t say they’d kicked her out the room. They certainly did clear her out the picture while Khloe lay in a hospital bed like she’d just given birth.

Wow she had another baby with her ex? Desperate much? Thought she learnt the first time...she needs help...

YANBU it’s fucking barbaric that rich people can pay poor people to literally rent out their body parts, like hiring a vessel, then shirk them to the side when the vessel has done its job. That poor poor baby will be born expecting its birth mother and is barely out the womb before being ‘claimed’ by another woman for its first of about 4 billion photoshoots. The whole family then my stomach.

I wonder also if she kicked the birth mother out of her bed to have this photo shoot

They are a family who have too much money and too much power, if it can be bought they will buy it just because they can.

But with all that money and all that power they have no successful long term relationships.

Khloe found out her boyfriend had cheated on her just before she had their baby, then she finds out he's impregnated the woman he cheated with and still tried to keep the relationship going. A couple of days after they transferred the embryo for this baby she finds out he's still cheating.

They are all a complete mess of over privileged, over consumeristic, over publicised women who don't seem to be able to relate to other human beings in any kind of meaningful way.

Her son will have wanted the woman he grew within.

I disagree with all kinds of surrogacy but if it MUST be done it should be altruistic and done properly - as in the birth mum sticks around after the birth and creates a bond that baby is expecting. Not just vanish before the pain even subsides

I read something else about one of the Jonas brothers and his wife paying a surrogate because they were too busy to schedule sex. Wtf.

Lol the whole answer in a sentence. If you’re watching the show you’re watching exploitation unfortunately. I always remember watching it as a teen and being put off by an episode where they ‘help’ a homeless man by parading him around for their social media. Yuck.

A news article posted the pic on Instagram and the top comment was ‘why is she LARPing in that hospital bed.’

If everyone stopped watching, they (the Ks) would probably live more emotionally healthy and stable lives… and they wouldn’t be able to afford to rent out wombs.

YANBU on both counts. I binge watched s1 on Disney after years of not watching it cause am feeling poorly and I’m enjoying the sheer bonkers-ness of it.

but yes i also started watching it after seeing the pics of Khloe with the surrogate because I was curious to see what she said about it. It also made me extremely uncomfortable. It’s so obvious she didn’t want to give up her (admittedly amazing) figure by getting pregnant again and so used a surrogate. The worst bit was when Kris said “you seem so disconnected from this pregnancy” - I mean, yeah, duh, she’s literally not pregnant - and then threw her a baby shower. It was dystopian.

Someone else chatting shit. plesse don't comment on somebody's life after watching 1 episode or reading a headline. Khloe had valid medical reasons for going through ivf & being unable to carry her own child.

I don’t watch it but read about them in gutted press! It was bad enough when Kim did it for her younger 2 children but at least she did have a genuine problem which made giving birth risky for her. Not heard of anything like that for Khloe. Just wouldn’t fit into her schedule id imagine. I agree it’s disgusting and that father of her 2 kids has random kids everywhere - they don’t need anymore of his kids in the world. No doubt Khloe wanted a sibling for True and she’s got the money to pay someone else to take the stretch marks, varicose veins and difficult birth. Lying in a hospital bed takes the biscuit, why couldn’t she sit in a blooming chair to hold her baby??

Completely off, why can’t she have her own baby?? But watching their shows, clicking on their news etc all feeds them. This is why they do what they do
