to think its rude to recline seat on long-haul flight

....for the entire flight (except during meals), unless its a night flight and everyone is reclined? I had a 9 hour (day-time) flight yesterday and the family in front of us were fully reclined for the majority of the flight. Most others (including those behind us) remained upright so we also remained upright for the entire flight with less room due to the seats in front being reclined. DS (3) was asleep across our laps which didn't help with space, but i did feel it was 'unfair' that they were able to recline, whilst I felt it would have been rude for us to do the same to those behind - 3 tallish men. AIBU?

If you need to be in a space where the seating/reclining configuration is different, upgrade yours.

yep anyone upset by it all can pay for a different seat

I think a little recline is fine - but all the way back is a bit cunty.

Please let us know exactly what angle is acceptable before a person officially becomes a cunt.

Probably the amount you do... :)

Well, better to be a comfortable, happy cunt than a blithering idiot who pays to sit in the area with the configuration they don't want.

i recline because it puts my back and hips in a more comfortable position. im not going to be in agony sitting more upright when i have a seat that helps me available. but then in real life it has never been an issue.

You've bought a place on a reclining seat. That means the space behind you, as far as it reclines, is yours, not that of the person behind you. This is what these... people with all their "fucking" this and "cunting" that, can't grasp. The seats all have the option to recline, so that space is yours. That goes for everyone. Unless you're Slenderman and plan on having your arms stuck straight out in front of you, you aren't using that space in the air so it doesn't matter that it belongs to the seat in front that uses it. The fact that you're facing it doesn't make it yours.

That's the configuration for the cheap area. That's what's for sale when you buy those seats. If you want a different configuration where nobody can recline in front of you, that option is also available so buy one of those tickets.
