AIBU?
to say "fuck it - I'm not redecorating"
TheClitterati · 06/09/2022 13:29
recent promotion comes with a house move - company flat.
The previous residents clearly had some very specific taste, which isn't shared, but the place looks OK & they clearly spent a bit of ££ on their fairly recent redecoration.
I am super super busy, lots to do in my challenging new job. I really don't have time to redecorate at the moment (though of course I would out source it). Plus there's a cost of living crisis and it's not a great look to spend thousands on unnesessary redecorating is it? I don't even know how long we'll be here.
I do have a great budget to redecorate, but AIBU to just live with the house as is? Or shall I get hubby on the case and get our chintz on?
YANBU - live with it as is, its a good look & you've got enough on your plate.
YABU - get that new wallpaper up asap, you deserve it.
Am I being unreasonable?

I'm hoping that Liz is looking at the bigger picture

Redecorating is absolutely not an obligation!
Live with it for a bit and see what you think. If it's all fully functioning there's no rush at all.
FortunaMajor · 06/09/2022 13:32
You may find some of the wallpaper has been steamed off since you last saw it.

Farrow & Ball do a lovely shade of puce. It’s called “deeply immoral Tory twat”. I’m sure it’ll be right up your alley.

Awww Liz don't get rid of the wallpaper! 🥺😂
sadly they took the artwork with them - I'm a bit unsure how to pull it off. I'm more of a colour blocker

Agreed. I do think it would be a great move for Liz to say "I'm not redecorating - too busy getting shit done".
ZenNudist · 06/09/2022 13:38
She better not redecorate after all that. I almost feel sorry for her stuck with the wicker and gold. Not to forget that drinks trolley!!
TheClitterati · 06/09/2022 13:40

Sell the wallpaper on Ebay
I like this idea.
possible solution to cost of living crisis - I'll add it to my list.
amillionrosepetals · 06/09/2022 15:09
Well done OP, took me till @GoneWithTheWine1 to get it.
Iwantmyoldnameback · 06/09/2022 15:13
I don't think I could live with that wallpaper. I believe you have the option to move into the flat next door would this be a solution? Let your underling live with the tat.

Redecorating would be a waste of time, money and everything. She could actually get up and say look I’ve £30k for redecorating and it’s going directly to [a particular hosptial] to be spent on [whatever].

I don’t think MPs are allowed to claim taxpayers’ money for charity donations. Or at least I hope they’re not.

Has anyone done 'DH lost his job today and he's getting on my nerves already, I'm juggling two toddlers and he's moping around under my feet instead of getting off his arse to look for another job and to top it off we've had to move as his last job came with accommodation and all our stuff is in boxes and he won't even do some unpacking'?
TheClitterati · 06/09/2022 16:03
do it Barbs do it!
I was wondering where they have moved to. Maybe Liz will turn up to Chequers one day and find Boris & co camped out there.
MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 06/09/2022 16:04
I'm surprised they didn't steam the wallpaper off the walls to sell on.
