Will this Actimel kill me?

DeathByActimel · 04/09/2022 20:48

This afternoon i drank a medium sized bottle of actimel. It didnt taste right. And the texture was wrong. Checked the lid, and its use by date was early August.

How big is the potential for this to cause a night of stomach issues? I currently feel absolutely fine.

It might make you wish you were dead…

nocoolnamesleft · 04/09/2022 20:52

It will probably have extra friendly bacteria.

liveforsummer · 04/09/2022 20:52

I'd expect any results to be fairly quick to show themselves so watch this space ... 😬

hamstersarse · 04/09/2022 20:54

We get raw keffir and you can let it bubble on for weeks and still drink it with no Ill effect even though it literally fizzes when you open it

Its probably better for you if you are really looking for some extra good gut bacteria

Meepinator · 04/09/2022 21:03

Call 111 just to be on the safe side

I agree with this - you want it full of bacteria surely and the good stuff with multiply

Why not go the whole hog and dial 999? 🙄

Yogurty things seem to last for ages after their BB date. If it was in the fridge and unopened I imagine you'll be fine.

liveforsummer · 04/09/2022 21:44

Actimel is no kefir so it's anyones guess if the good bacteria has won the war with the bad however yogurt only produces food spoilage bacteria not food poisoning so you'll be fine apart from maybe some short term sickness from the grossness. Definitely no need to start calling the NHS 🙈

It'll go through you like a Ferrari 😂

sobeyondthehills · 04/09/2022 21:55

I would set up a tv in your toilet along with a £20 kettle (to save you money) and prepare for a stay

Why? What do you think 111 are going to do?

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 04/09/2022 21:56

Best to get your affairs in order I'd say.

Good luck on your travels.

loudlylikealion · 04/09/2022 21:59

What time this afternoon? 2 o clock I'd expect it to have had any effects by now, 5 o clock, still time for the bacteria to have turned evil.

DwightShrutesYFronts · 04/09/2022 21:59

Call 111 Grin Grin Grin

Did you really type that? Seriously? Grin

🤣🤣 I think @Meepinator is joking!

OP, have you got a tummy ache yet?
I think you might live to see another day!

Thatswhyimacat · 04/09/2022 22:01

I mean, if you couldn't tell by smell that it was that out of date then nothing extreme has been festering in it.

ranktastic · 04/09/2022 22:02

Dont bother with 111 got straight to a&e for a stomach pump

romdowa · 04/09/2022 22:03

You'll probably just end up having a good clear out 🤣

DawnBreaks · 04/09/2022 22:04

I ate a pizza many years ago, complete with the polystyrene base. I'm still here. ;-)

PerkyBlinder · 04/09/2022 22:05

I left one once for about six months in the work fridge as I forgot about it and my boss drunk it as thought the friendly bacteria should make it ok and it just wouldn’t taste quite as good. He was completely fine although I personally would have thrown it away! 😂

DwightShrutesYFronts · 04/09/2022 22:05

Bit drastic

ShirleyPhallus · 04/09/2022 22:10

You could drink something to make yourself sick just in case? I suggest 2 parts vinegar, 2 parts vodka, 1 part lemon juice and 1 part caustic soda.
