A parking one!

I will start this by saying I probably am being unreasonable and peri menopause may be contributing to it.

So i live in a close with on road parking and parking bays. The bays are for visitors and also my close has an alleyway off of it that has about 8 houses down it. The bays are also parking for these houses. I have a driveway but it contains a caravan so i am unable to use it to park. Whenever i have visitors I always ask them to park in the bays so they don't block the parking outside any of the residents homes. There are two particular houses from the alleyway ( which is two doors away from my house) that constantly dump their cars outside my house sometimes for days on end therefore meaning I can't park there. I can't say anything because they aren't doing anything illegal but in my mind its not neighbourly or polite and it makes me seethe silently! AIBU?

You haven't enabled voting but yeah, YABU.

bloodyplanes · 01/09/2022 18:24

In my mind they purchased houses that they knew came with no parking outside them yet they constantly take up the spaces outside mine. Making it impossible for me to park.

YABU.

ZekeZeke · 01/09/2022 18:25

You don't own the road

dementedpixie · 01/09/2022 18:25

Move your caravan and you'd have a place to park

DisforDarkChocolate · 01/09/2022 18:25

I'm bearing in mind you bought a house without enough parking for your needs.

pimlicoanna · 01/09/2022 18:26

All on street parking is equally available to anyone though. You know you have no right to the spaces on the road just because they are outside your property.

godmum56 · 01/09/2022 18:26

errrm move the caravan?

Brogues · 01/09/2022 18:26

YABU move your caravan if you want to park outside your home.

And you deliberately parked a caravan in your driveway

Electriq · 01/09/2022 18:27

In my mind you purchased a house with a drive and put a caravan on it.

Obviously YABU

BigFatLiar · 01/09/2022 18:28

Park your car outside your house.

Iheartmykyndle · 01/09/2022 18:29

Buy a house with a bigger drive then? You don't own the road. You'd be able to park if you didn't have the caravan.

I'd rather not look out over my neighbour's caravan but you know, we all have to coexist.

UmbilicusProfundus · 01/09/2022 18:30

Sounds like one of the parking bays nearby would be free rather than parking is ‘impossible’

custardbear · 01/09/2022 18:31

Of course YABU but you know that!

Rent a caravan parking spot locally, use your driveway simples!

MiniCooperLover · 01/09/2022 18:32

Your house comes with parking, you're just choosing to dump a caravan on it 🤷‍♀️ The space outside your house is not 'your parking' .. you have no reason to be seething.

From their point of view you take up bay space that they could use because

a) you have chosen to fill your parking space with a caravan and you park on the road

b)you send visitors to park in the bays

if I was your neighbours you would make me seethe (loudly), and I would probably park on the road outside your house too. In their mind you have chosen to buy a house with parking and have cluttered it up with a blumming great caravan.

IncessantNameChanger · 01/09/2022 18:33

Someone smashed my sisters windows when she parked her car outside their house on a cul-de-sac. She moved afterwards.

If you need a guaranteed spot you need to have a bigger drive I'm afraid.

MajorCarolDanvers · 01/09/2022 18:34

I can't believe no one else has asked -

Where is your diagram?

EL8888 · 01/09/2022 18:35

You don’t own the space outside your house. In hindsight you probably should have bought a house with more parking or you get rid of the caravan / store it elsewhere

SamMil · 01/09/2022 18:37

Yes, you're definitely being unreasonable.

ShirleyPhallus · 01/09/2022 18:38

Are you allowed to park your caravan on your drive? It’s a condition of the our house (whatever the document is called that I can’t remember) that we aren’t allowed to park caravans on our drive!

Sunshine9356 · 01/09/2022 18:40

YABU

SolasAnla · 01/09/2022 18:40

Diagram needed!!

And YABU they bought a house with access to on street parking you bought one with a parking space you filled up and instead use a public space in an area of high parking demand.
