I have had no sleep tonight

Toddler has been screaming all night. Sometimes it has stopped for forty minutes but I keep hearing phantom screams and then the real screams start as soon as I am dropping off.

I am now sat in the garden feeling rather hopeless.

I’m so sorry. I’m an insomniac, so know well what it’s like to go a whole night without sleep.

Do you have to work tomorrow? Is there anyone who could watch her for an hour while you nap?

Ivehadnosleep · 29/08/2022 03:23

No work tomorrow but I’ll have the toddler all day, so won’t get a break. Fed up. Thought we’d sorted sleep problems but it seems now, and the thought of going back there is horrific.

That’s rubbish

Ivehadnosleep · 29/08/2022 03:24

No definitely not

Loving the username.

I’m in the same boat right now. I actually started a thread on how to get my 15m old to stop waking up every night. It’s ridiculous. She’s now drifted off and I’m up with my 4m old who’s decided he doesn’t want to sleep anymore.

It’s non stop and unbearable. My thoughts are really with you. Do you know why she’s screaming?

Ivehadnosleep · 29/08/2022 03:30

Haven’t a clue. I did think teeth or other pain but I think just wants me there.

brightnesses · 29/08/2022 03:47

Ah sorry. Does a bottle or anything settle her? You obviously know your child best but just thinking of ways to help. Hopefully you can get some sleep soon

Ivehadnosleep · 29/08/2022 03:54

Nothing. Still screaming.

I am up with my mum, spoke to 111 at 2.30am and out of hours Gp came at 3.30am. hoping antibiotics he left will mean she will fall asleep and I'll get a few hours also.
She has a UTI so even if I do fall asleep likely to be woken by her needing the loo as she can't get there (or even out of bed) on her own.
Hoping all on the thread get at least a few hours sleep before morning

Bimbil19 · 29/08/2022 04:19

My 5 month old has been up every 30 minutes all night. Luckiky he hasn't woken my toddler but entertaining them both tomorrow is going to be great. 😭i feel for you op.

Ivehadnosleep · 29/08/2022 04:22

Yes, tomorrow won’t be much fun. I can’t believe he’s still going.

If he's screaming cos he wants you why don't you just go lie with him?!

wannarunfromitall · 29/08/2022 05:09

Solidarity. I've had no sleep either because my body apparently wants to get rid of every last drop of blood in my entire body in the space of a night. I'm just sat on the loo with it pouring out now and MNing hopelessly.

FlorencePennnywell · 29/08/2022 05:24

If you think he just wants you there, just .. be there? Lie down with him

Why make things more difficult for yourself?

MrsMo21 · 29/08/2022 05:38

Solidarity. I’ve been up with my newborn pretty much all night apart from a glorious 45 minutes around 1am.
Entertaining my toddler tomorrow is going to be a blast!

Sending 💐…and gin.

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 29/08/2022 05:49

I hear you. I’ve hardly slept at all.

I’m en route back from holiday, in a crappy hotel room in France. My children are 10 & 13, my husband 42. Each one of the fuckers has woken me multiple times, too late to even try to sleep now. They are all snoring.

I have another six hours’ driving to do
<spoons coffee directly into eyes>

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 29/08/2022 06:01

I've been awake since 3am with horrific anxiety following a traumatic breakup from my husband. I'm supposed to be working a 13 hour shift as a nurse but will have to ring in sick - I can't go in like this. This adds to the anxiety. I feel so low I'm helpless and hopeless Flowers to anybody else needing support.

Leftittothelastminute · 29/08/2022 06:04

I've also had no sleep..... my son is at Reading Festival and I'm worried sick as it sounds horrific there- made the mistake of reading some posts on Facebook! I've been waiting for a call all night to say please drive up and get us! Hope you've managed to get a few hours op x

Iknowforsure1 · 29/08/2022 06:05

We are having some renovations done and I had severe anxiety about it all, so I didn’t sleep much, only about 2 hours.

Iknowforsure1 · 29/08/2022 06:08

@TangoWhiskyAlphaTango
I’m so sorry. I wish I could cancel anxiety and only concentrate on practicalities of going through the issues or situations without having to destroy myself with anxiety.

Rinatinabina · 29/08/2022 06:12

Yup, same, toddler is currently giving me 3 hours sleep a night and have her all day. Obviously it’s better than no sleep but yeah miserable. i feel you. Don’t know what to do, don’t think it’s teething, thinking about trying wake up to sleep method as she’s sleeping for a while then gets up and won’t go back to sleep. At least it was a 4am wake up today made it a bit more bearable. She doesn’t nap either.

Cactuslove · 29/08/2022 06:13

This was me a few weeks ago. I was just crying too in the end. My 18 month old just wanted me with him... but not to sleep. As soon as I led down with him he'd stop screaming and be crawling all over the bed giggling and playing. No advice because that night I tried everything. I didn't realise babies could literally scream all night.

Have you got family you could visit today? Sit at a friends with a cup of tea whilst they entertain the little monster? If yours is anything like mine they'll be all smiles this morning and you'll barely be able to open your eyes! Good luck today 😊

Thank you and me too. It's utterly debilitating and scary, I hate anxiety so much.

Sexnotgender · 29/08/2022 06:48

Combination of teething toddler, ill husband and arsehole dog means I’m pretty light on the sleep front today 😭

webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat · 29/08/2022 06:56

My DH is ill so I'm riddled with anxiety about me and the DC getting it too. That and a teething toddler made for a bad night. I'm working today and I'm actually relieved I don't have to stay home and can distract myself
