Lookingforbargains · 28/08/2022 11:53

My requirements are:
a) not too hard to find
b) somewhere I can walk back to after the show without getting murdered and stuff

Thanks!

Trenchard st car park is a 5 minute walk from the hippodrome

Witchcraftandhokum · 28/08/2022 11:56

NCP on Trenchard Street is a 5 minute walk away.

Witchcraftandhokum · 28/08/2022 11:57

ohthepressureofaname Great minds!

Lookingforbargains · 28/08/2022 11:57

My AIBU is AIBU for wanting MN to let me post this in ‘Local’?

It keeps saying ‘you must enter a location to post in local’ so I keep typing ‘Bristol’ in the stupid little box, and it keeps saying ‘you must enter a location’. It clearly wants to use my current location- but I don’t live in Bristol and am not currently there

So, here is my actual question:

Where should I park for Bristol Hippodrome? My requirements are:
a) not too hard to find
b) somewhere I can walk back to after the show without getting murdered and stuff

Thanks!

But if anyone can tell me how to get this into ‘local’, I’d be grateful too!

Definitely Trenchard Street and if you're there for an evening show you can pay for your evening parking ticket when you arrive to save joining the long queues after, makes life a lot easier!

Lookingforbargains · 28/08/2022 12:01

Thank you 😊
Just to clarify- is it a safe walk back?!

Oooh thanks for this as going to the O2 later.

Are there places best to eat at (or not), taking teens so not too posh

Flutterbybudget · 28/08/2022 12:11

Either Trenchard Street or College street car parks (both cost 4hrs £6) or Millenium Square, but that’s far more expensive (£12 for 4hrs)

Flutterbybudget · 28/08/2022 12:13

As for “safe” if you are heading back to your car straight from the show, you will in a large crowd. You should be fine, wherever you are parked.

Flutterbybudget · 28/08/2022 12:15

Top hint, use the main exit, unless you know where you are going (ie recon beforehand)
First time we went, we just followed the crowd out of a side door, and got completely lost in the backstreets 😂

FloodTheBathroom · 28/08/2022 12:18

Trenchard st is fine though you may have a bit of a wait to get out as everyone leaves at the same time. You may get a space on a metre on woodland road which is near trenchard st, or queen Square if you don't mind a walk. I live south so prefer queen Square or mud dock (car park called the grove) with a walk across the centre. Both those options are a bit more murdery tho.

heldinadream · 28/08/2022 12:23

Mud Dock/the Grove. Never had a problem either finding a space or walking back at night. Prefer it to Trenchard St - honestly can't remember why!

But it might be nearer to Hippodrome (not much in it though). It's all outdoors and Trenchard St is multi-story.

Craftybodger · 28/08/2022 12:24

I much prefer Millenium Square to Trenchard Street. It won’t be quiet but it will be less queuing to get out and it’s very well lit.

chillipenguin · 28/08/2022 12:25

Its safe as long as you're going when everyone else is

Flutterbybudget · 28/08/2022 12:30

Plenty of places to eat around the Waterfront as well (right next to Millenium Square, if you choose to park there).

FloodTheBathroom · 28/08/2022 12:30

Trenchard st has the long wait to get out with the smell of burning clutches. Much prefer a meter and get straight home. But if you are alone OP and not familiar with the area, trenchard st is a good bet.

Flutterbybudget · 28/08/2022 12:34

Not the best edit, but that’s where the Waterfront is with the bars and restaurants, and the car parks

I always park millennium square. It’s expensive but much better lit and less secluded.

I would happily park in Woodland Road - I was a student in Bristol so am familiar with this. But I was always a pedestrian in Bristol so am unaware of the parking restrictions! Also, the centre has changed beyond recognition since I was there! How much is a parking meter, and do you need actual cash?!

Download Ringo app, it's about £2 for the night after 6pm but check the tariffs.
Another option is to park anywhere and voi to the theatre 😁😉

FloodTheBathroom · 28/08/2022 13:48

Where are you coming from? M32 pretty straightforward to get to woodland road/ Tyndale ave.

Yes, nandos on park st but may be busy, just look on Google maps. Plenty around

DorritLittle · 28/08/2022 13:54

It depends where you are coming from. I would choose the car park by the Mud Dock or College Street, which is Ringo.

Yes, coming from M32. Do the meters on Woodland Road take card payment, do you know?
