Someone loitering outside my house

Hi all
there is somebody pacing up and down outside my house for the last ten minutes or so looking a bit shifty. I peeped out and they looked up at my bedroom window. Worried as I currently have a brand new hire car parked up outside mine. Can hear his footsteps but he isn’t actually moving from where he is. He’s stopped in the same kind of spot but just pacing. What would you do?

If it was me as I really don't generally think before i act would ask him if he's either alright or what he's up to, but if your concerned ring the police.

Shout out the front door asking if he’s lost

He's probably waiting for someone. Do you have lots of neighbours? He's maybe waiting for a mate

I'd open the window and ask if he was OK. He knows you know he's there from peeking out.

Turn the lights on

He knows you're there now so I'd probably ask if he was alright or needed anything. If you're worried about it or he hangs around longer ring the police.

Turn all your lights on including outside lights if you have any

I would probably get the police to do a security patrol if he's there any longer.

Lights on, ask if he's OK from upstairs window. He's either innocently waiting for someone of the confrontation will rattle him and make him go away.

It depends where you live. Where I am I could ask the police to do a drive-by but if you're in an area where the police are overworked they probably wouldn't do that. Do you know any neighbours who would do something?

Pretend to be super-confident and in charge. Open the window and ask if he needs help, (he’ll say no!) or is he lost (he’ll say no), then ask what is he hanging around your house for?

Can you set your car alarm off with the key fob?

Can you Google dogs barking and play it loud near an open window? then shout down boy.

Why don't you put on a gangster movie, turn the volume up loud, and put some firecrackers in a pan by the door and set them off.

How close are your neighbours?
He could be waiting for one of your neighbours to come out...but I'm going to take it you've figured out what he was doing op (seen as it's been over an hour since you posted )

Alternatively, go heavy with the eyeliner, keep the lights off and stand at the window with a torch lighting your face from below.

Can you do some cardboard cut outs operated with string to make it look like people are dancing and play rocking around the Christmas tree loudly?
