Seriously... I could drink the whole bottle

Don't do that

husbandcallsmepickle · 20/08/2022 20:39

It was better in the 70s before rules on additives and artificial sweeteners

Beees · 20/08/2022 20:40

It tastes good but it's not a patch on the deliciousness of the old 90s banana medicine! That stuff was definitely worth getting unwell for!

MbatataOwl · 20/08/2022 20:45

Viosene original shampoo is so tasty I had to stop buying it for fear of making myself unwell.

Nadal · 20/08/2022 20:46

Why can't they make all medicine to taste like that???

whatshouldIdo2022 · 20/08/2022 20:46

Oh I love it. Sometimes I sneak a spoonful..agree re the banana antibiotic thing but just thinking about it makes me feel feverish!

lockdownbabyx · 20/08/2022 20:46

@Beees was this the amoxicillin? Luminous yellow? My son recently had this, hadn't seen it since I was a kid. But yes, that's delicious too 😂

Not as good as it used to be before they replaced all the sugar.

I used to swig banana medicine straight from the bottle as a child Grin

ShinySquirrel · 20/08/2022 20:52

My DH would agree with you. We once did the maths so he could take calpol for a headache instead of paracetamol tablets. 😂He's done it once, and won't again because it's too expensive.

Yes! Luminous yellow and tasted blooming fantastic! Didn't know they still had it. I suppose they are less keen to hand it out these days, it feels like we used to be given it for everything in the 90s. Grin

lockdownbabyx · 20/08/2022 20:53

@ShinySquirrel I actually just googled this out of curiosity haha. I have the 2+ months one so it would be 8 spoonfuls 😱.

Night nurse is lovely.

howmanyseas · 20/08/2022 20:55

The first time I had Red Bull as a student it took me right back to having Calpol as a child!

Can confirm the banana amoxycillin is still a thing, my kids have had it for ear infections.

lockdownbabyx · 20/08/2022 20:55

@Beees yes and it's still banana flavour too! I just remember it always being in the fridge when I was younger and pretending i didn't feel well just so I could have some 😂

I used to love Benylin, remember that?! It was sort of blackcurranty.

stuntbubbles · 20/08/2022 20:57

Oh, it’s wonderful. I like it when DD refuses it but I’ve already syringed it out, can’t possibly put it back in the bottle, can’t waste it – so I have a cheeky treat.

Manchestermummax2 · 20/08/2022 20:57

Absolutely!
As I kid when seeing my bio dad at weekends, I'd pretend to feel unwell to get some, until old enough to sneak a teaspoon myself.
He wasn't the most switched on parent lol I'd never get away with it at mums.
Now I have children myself I sometimes still do it 🙈
I hated the yellow stuff though, but then I hate bananas so that's why 🤣

lockdownbabyx · 20/08/2022 21:00

@stuntbubbles haha I literally just done this 😂

Yes!!

polkadotpixie · 20/08/2022 21:16

I send to love Tixilyx kids cough medicine, it was delicious!

drunktrifle · 20/08/2022 21:34

Eeewww nope. It's gross, so gloopy and it smells disgusting. It makes me heave just watching my children have it.

drunktrifle · 20/08/2022 21:36

I could drink Beechams liquid all day long though.

Stripsorspots · 21/08/2022 01:03

I'm still scarred by taking it for a hangover - so disgusting, didn't kill or cure

YouOnlyPostNonsenseAfterMidnight · 21/08/2022 01:20

If you have the 6+ one it’s not too many spoonfuls (can’t be bothered getting the bottle to work it out). I sometimes take it instead of tablets if I’m feeling poorly and sorry for myself as I’m sure there is some placebo effect from the taste. Think liquid acts quicker than pills too.

DinosaurDuvet · 21/08/2022 01:27

Was much nicer when I was a kid in the 80s, then they removed the sugar. I’m allergic to penicillin so anytime I get a whiff of that artificial banana smell it brings back some bad memories lol 🤮
