Can someone help me re covid recovery certificate for travel.

We have had so much trouble with holidays this year. Could really use some help.

we have added all of our covid documents into the airlines app to go to Spain. One of ours hasn’t been verified. This is the unvaccinated teen. Teen has had covid so we got a recovery certificate and added this to the app. They have said it’s not enough but haven’t been clear why. We think we need to add the proof of positive test too - does this seem right?

At the moment our only option is to try and check in at the airport but don’t want to get all the way there to find they won’t let us board.

as usual the app won’t let us add the extra info and the phones just ring and ring. Just can’t let my kids have another holiday that doesn’t happen. 😢

What age is the teen?
Could you do an LFT before travel instead of trying to use the recovery certificate? Where did you get the recovery certificate?

ilovesooty · 20/08/2022 10:47

It might be worth booking a fit to fly test.

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:00

they only had covid a month or so ago so the test will probably still be positive if we do another hence the recovery certificate.

We did the fit to fly test before our last holiday and couldn’t go as was positive. Spain say you can use a recovery cert if had covid over 11 days ago and before 6 months.

LFT should be OK. More likely to test positive on a PCR. If you have any LFT at home do a practise one to see what result you get

dementedpixie · 20/08/2022 11:03

Where did you get the recovery certificate?

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:08

From the same place that issued the positive test certificate recently. We fly tomorrow. Do you have to go somewhere to get a particular lft? The trouble was that teen was always negative on our lft’s we did at home before the pcr so not sure we even did them properly.

Has anyone used a recovery certificate to get into Spain?

Does the certificate have all this info on?
Is it just the airline website that's not letting you verify details? We didn't upload anything like that when we went to Lanzarote

Covid passes weren't checked until we arrived on Lanzarote and even then it was just random people that were checked rather than everyone

Can someone help me re covid recovery certificate for travel.
LilacPoppy · 20/08/2022 11:17

It won't still be positive at all!

BeaLola · 20/08/2022 11:24

Not wanting to derail but what are the airline wanting you to upload ?

We are flying to Spain in Sept (both DH & I fully vaccinated) and have been advised just NHS covid pass.

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:26

Yes it does. The last point- documentary proof - I assume this means a copy of the positive test. We didn’t upload this the first time and when we are trying to add it to the documents it won’t submit. I’m guessing this is a problem with the app but I don’t want to get to the airport assuming we have everything we need to find out we don’t.

can I also check in right that we don’t need to complete the health form as teen has a recovery certificate?

i am so over this holiday and we’ve been waiting all summer for it (well, 4 years really) It’s all so stressful I wish we’d never bothered. 😢

We flew with Jet2 to Lanzarote and never had to upload anything before travel either. Took covid passes with us - 3 on phones and 1 printed version. Ours were checked when we arrived but not everyone's was

dementedpixie · 20/08/2022 11:28

This suggests you don't need the Travel Health form:

Travellers from the UK who can either show proof of being fully vaccinated, or of having recovered from prior COVID-19 infection in the last 6 months, or who are aged under 12 years old, do not need to complete Spain’s Travel Health Control form. Everyone else must complete Spain’s Travel Health Control form no more than 48 hours before travel to Spain. See Spain’s Ministry of Health travel pages for more detail.

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:30

BA wanted us to add all our covid info into the app. The rest of us are fine either fully vaccinated or under 12.

for teen we just uploaded his certificate of recovery. He doesn’t have a covid pass or anything like that on his phone.

The Spanish entry forms say a covid cert is accepted if within the time frame - which it is.

I really don’t want to be refused to board due to this though if I’ve miss understood - which I’m sure I haven’t.

Thanks. This is my understanding too but I’m starting to doubt myself over all this.

Do you think we need to download the nhs app for him? I guess the documents from his positive test and the recovery cert will automatically be on there as the vaccination status is?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 20/08/2022 11:36

No I don't think his positive test will show on the nhs pass as it wasn't an nhs test

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:36

I just want to say thank you for helping me. I am really so stressed and upset with this all at the moment. I’m really grateful to everyone for taking the time to answer and help me.

This is true. I won’t add to my stresses then 🤣

OP posts:

Although I'm in Scotland so your nhs app might be different to the pass that we use

dementedpixie · 20/08/2022 11:40

Can you do online check in without uploading all the info?

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:43

No you can’t check in online without covid info. Which means we will have to check in at the airport. If we haven’t got what we need we won’t be able to board. that causes me massive stress imagining the kids being disappointed yet again.

the other part of me has scoured the travel conditions for Spain and can’t see that we’ve gone wrong with it anywhere. We have paper copies of positive test in July and of the recovery cert that they can see do it should be ok. But I’m not confident enough to go with this.

OP posts:
Frazzled2207 · 20/08/2022 11:46

i think it will be fine at the airport but totally understand the stress.
can you call the airline and explain? They should at the very least be able to reassure you that checking in at the airport will be fine.

Frazzled2207 · 20/08/2022 11:47

Sorry just seen you have tried ringing. Can you try tweeting the airline

Sunshineismyfriend · 20/08/2022 11:56

Yes we’ve tried ringing and emailing. Nothing. I don’t have twitter but perhaps I will set up an account. Thanks everyone.
