To be really fucking annoyed with MY BIL?

Making caramel at home today. Was just about done when he and my sister called in. I warned them both not to touch the bowl because it was still extremely hot.

Fucking muppet BIL sticks his finger straight in it. I genuinely can't believe he did it (he's the type to touch a gate with a wet paint sign to see if it's actually wet!)

Cue him screaming in pain and needing to be driven to A&E to get it seen to. No doubt he'll have to have time off sick from work, because he works in a wet fish shop and I don't see how he can work with a bandaged finger.

I'm annoyed because he's apparently blaming me for leaving the bowl out! Apparently saying "do not touch that, it's extremely hot", wasn't good enough.

But that's christmas sorted right? A chocolate scented candle (with instruction not to eat), selection of fruit shaped soaps (with instruction not to eat), bull dog clips various sizes (with CLEAR instruction not to put on testicles).

In my family this would be the comedy gift from the gods which would run, and run 😂

Oh my god that's brilliant!!! 😂😂😂

I'll keep the caramel he poked for family and make a new batch for my friend.

He's got a second degree burn on his finger apparently and has had it dressed. Has to go back to get it checked with being on his hand.

Sister is furious with him too, honestly. It's like there's a short circuit in his brain that activates as soon as he's told NOT to do something.

Honestly op he sounds a muppet but he should be able to go to work still, I burnt my fingers quite badly a couple of years ago and could still work(with pain admittedly) it was across 3 fingers with blisters on each.

I can kinda understand him not wanting to go - he works with wet fish so constantly has his hands on wet stuff and has to wash them often.

But he had absolutely no need to touch it in the first place!

I'll attach a picture but I'll put something else first in case anyone in squeamish.

Ouch. That looks really sore! His looked similar tbh.

Did you laugh?

But .... but .... but

Why didn't you get your husband to tell him. Clearly, no one listens to a warning given by a mere woman. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Oh, of course! I'd get your sister to confirm that shepherd the warning in case he tries to do something stupid like sue for loss of earnings.

He might have to do admin work. I wouldn't trust him near foodstuff at all if that's his attitude.

His own stupid fault.

PandorasMailbox · 14/08/2022 23:27

My mum's got form for doing shit like this. She did it once with some chili oil that was in a bowl in my kitchen. Never did it again though 😂

Herejustforthisone · 14/08/2022 23:28

The stupid prick got what he deserved. He ignored a clear warning and contaminated a bowl of caramel by sticking his disgusting wet fish finger into it.

QuestionableMouse · 14/08/2022 19:32

This has cheered me right up 😂😁

His finger really did look quite badly burned (scalded?)... He ruined new trousers a couple of years ago by leaning on a newly painted wall that had a wet paint sign. He's a tit, honestly.

It's been pretty cool and foggy here all afternoon, though I'm making it because I promised a friend a batch for her birthday. Having to start again now after his tittery.

I'm guessing it could be argued that these types of situations are why not drinks come with warning labels etc ?

I'd be annoyed with him for ruining the caramel. Who knows where his fingers have been. That's baking gone to waste.

My thought too!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/08/2022 23:40

I would be really irritated that he’d put his finger in the caramel at all - who knows where his finger has been?

of course it’s not your fault that he burnt it. Dickhead

BadNomad · 14/08/2022 23:41

sticking his disgusting wet fish finger into it

😂

That's where his finger has been. Fishy caramel. Nice.

Isaidnoalready · 14/08/2022 23:50

Was at a meal when ds2 was very small nan ordered sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce the waiter put it on the table next to ds and I wasn't fast enough to grab him before he put his hand in it without thinking I grabbed his hand and shoved it in my mouth to get the hot sauce off cue one burned hand AND MOUTH his hand blistered badly too could have been worse

lamaze1 · 15/08/2022 00:06

He sounds insufferable. You shouldn't have had to have said anything because it's bloody rude to just stick his fingers in other peoples food when visiting their house (was he dragged up?).

Hopefully he has learnt important lessons:

  1. Not to be so bloody rude; and
  1. Listen to what he is told and not be so pig headed.
frustratedhostage · 15/08/2022 00:18

What an idiot!

Pantsomime · 15/08/2022 00:20

Caramel is not cheap to make- I’d send him a bill for the cost of making a new batch. He’s so rude and unhygienic, hopefully he’s learned a lesson

SeraphinaDombegh · 15/08/2022 00:22

Silly arse. Hopefully this means he'll learn a few lessons! Of course it's his fault.

LavenderfortheBees · 15/08/2022 11:43

Yes I would also be asking him to reimburse ingredients unless it was less than a fiver or so.

QuestionableMouse · 15/08/2022 15:20

He's honestly a genuine 100% certified Fucking Idiot. He was told to leave the bandages alone but decided to take them off "to have a look" and has taken skin (?) off his finger. Not entirely sure - just going in what my sister told me.

I honestly genuinely do not know how she puts up with him.

What an absolute muppet, honestly some people just can’t help themselves.

Hopefully she doesn't help him put them back on. He sounds bloody irritating. You have my sympathy!

ChimChimeny · 16/08/2022 15:15

If I was your sister I think I'd have killed him by now!
