I keep getting those.

dontgobaconmyheart · 14/08/2022 08:45

Just block them.

I get things like this all the time, so assumed everyone does. I can't say I ever take much notice, it's all so obviously nonsense.

I appreciate people do fall for them and particularly those who are vulnerable. It's such a sinister form of crime.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 14/08/2022 08:55

I keep getting those "your broadband is slow" calls. Happened so often that on one occasion I just came out and asked "Is this a scam to remote access my computer?" before the bloke could get through his whole spiel. He was silent for a moment and said "How did you know?"
Coz I aint stupid and you lot keep phoning me sometimes multiple times a day. Thankfully our landline handset appears to be broken.

I'd like to buy your item for sale but I am far away so I will send the cash in an envelope for UPS delivery. They will then courier the items to me.

Blowthemandown · 14/08/2022 09:37

Forward to 7726 the more people that do, the better as they will be removed. You’ll be asked to reply with the number that sent it.

Thanks for putting these together. It’s good to be aware. I have had most of these and I am still sometimes caught out by them.
like a friend forwarded me a link for free holidays by emirates which I clicked on and then realised it was a scam.
will have a look through the thread later

SilverOverEverything · 14/08/2022 09:45

DM had one of those messages stating the ‘hi it’s me, here’s my new number’ and she bloody changed my number to this scam one!

I presume the follow up would have been asking for money but thankfully I rang her and everything came to light!

And in case anyone thinks that @Blowthemandown is initiating a massive scam Grin I checked it out and it's an Ofcom scheme.
