Should I disown DD?

DD (22) arrived home from a hard week’s work to find an Audi Wanker parked. in her nominated space at her flats. She’s left an arsey note but has not drawn a diagram or set up a dashcam to monitor the situation. AIBU to declare her no child of mine?

Yes, of course. She is not welcome on MN.

But I put the blame squarely at your feet @Falifornia .
You haven't raised her right, shame on you

dudsville · 12/08/2022 21:22

You need to take responsibility here. You raised this child. Get out you pen and paper and sit her down. Fgs.

ShittyGlitter · 12/08/2022 21:22

And why are you not out there creating a diagram?

Mosaic123 · 12/08/2022 21:22

She's young. All hope is not yet lost. Teach her the MN rules

Jojobees · 12/08/2022 21:25

You do need to accept some responsibility here OP, did you teach your Dd that diagrams were the mere minimum required in situations like this?
If she’s been taught properly then of course you should disown her with immediate effect.

ManateeFair · 12/08/2022 21:29

Well, clearly this is a safeguarding issue, OP. You’ve failed as a parent. I would go NC.

Falifornia · 12/08/2022 21:30

@minou123 About 10 years ago, she joined me on MN as I tried to buy an M&S "fugly armchair" for 50p (fucking hilarious thread kicked off by someone at M&S cocking up their web pricing). It distracted us from my DDad's desperate illness long into the night. Did she learn nothing? I'm so disappointed.....

OP posts:
SNWannabe · 12/08/2022 21:33

@Falifornia I assume you didn’t breastfeed her so it’s entirely your fault she hasn’t the extra IQ points required to realised the importance of aforementioned parking diagram. Shame on you.

Or if you did breastfeed her, perhaps you made a rod for your own back giving in to her every demand so she did not learn the importance of ensuring parking issues are accurately documented.

Either way YABU to even ASK about disowning DD… I hope you’ve changed your Will.

minou123 · 12/08/2022 21:34

@Falifornia
I remember the M&S fugly armchair for 50p, it was brilliant 😁 I can't believe they didn't honour the orders, as it was thier mistake.

Make her go back and at least take a picture of the note. We need to critically assess her wording and whether it was arsey enough to meet our standards.

Falifornia · 12/08/2022 21:41

I've just texted her to get her ass to AIBU. She's 22 and working in law. If the note is not sufficiently arsey, I think I'll have to find her boss on LinkedIn and whistleblow.

DiscoBadgers · 12/08/2022 21:43

Send her back down to do a diagram IMMEDIATELY

DDad was super poorly at the time. That thread got us through a very, very dark night. I was gutted not to get my mustard yellow recliner Wink

No, because anyone who demands a diagram with no need is a complete twat. See most parking threads.

dehloh · 12/08/2022 21:54

Take her phone away for a start. How dare she be so disrespectful. Tell her she can have it back when she produces the goods Smile

Drivebye · 12/08/2022 22:01

You need a plan OP. If she doesn't know about diagrams I assume she has no idea about penguin bollards. Although actually this stuff should be taught in schools.

SpringCalling · 12/08/2022 22:10

@Drivebye makes a good point. This could only be the tip of the massive knowledge-gap iceberg. You are going to have to re-visit all the essentials. Why she can't leave washing out at night. How to ensure CFs don't abuse her overseas villa ... etc etc

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2022 22:12

Did she at least block the car in ? (Though not legal as it prevents acess to the road for the CF Parker , she could pretend she ran out of petrol )

If she is on the phone to the local rugby team to come along and bounce it off the parking lot , then she gets extra points .
Vaseline under the door handles but not on the windscreen wipers

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2022 22:17

I know , right ?
My DD is studying Law and all they teach them is stuff like ......erm Law . And more Law and Ethics , Land Law (which isn't the same as The Law of the Land (which would be block the fecker in ) and Property Law (unfortunately not My Bit of Road My Roolz )
Not the A-Z of getting some CF off your drive .

Irishfarmer · 12/08/2022 22:23

I think disowning her is the only step you can take. Or perhaps an intensive course is could save her😂

LonelyInAutumn · 12/08/2022 22:26

With all due respect OP, your daughter is still really little, being only 264 months old. I really think you could have done more and stepped in as the parent.

minou123 · 12/08/2022 22:30

These are useful life skills to know.

cheeky fucker parking - diagram, rude note, some form of revenge

invited to a wedding you don't want to go to - it's an invitation , not a summons (that's useful for a law student)

someone being a dick to you- knowing the phrase: fuck off the the far side of fuck and when you get there fuck off some more.
Or
Someone left the gate open at the cunt farm

Useful!

WhatWouldHopperDo · 12/08/2022 22:38

When I was 22 I was patrolling car parks and side streets looking for CF parking and committed to drawing diagrams. I walked the streets for 29 hours a day to achieve my goals. I had invested in a penguin bollard start up and ran an improv group so that people could practice what they would say when they go their day in front of CF parkers.

Young people these days have no stamina and no sense of outrage.

YANBU to cut her off.

Falifornia · 12/08/2022 22:42

@Drivebye makes an excellent point. I coughed for private school n'everything; what a waste of fees. I need to email the PSHSE (or whatever bollocks it's called these days) department to insist the next generation is taught the correct etiquette to survive the vipers' nest. Essential life skill.

Heleena · 12/08/2022 22:42

My sister has an allocated parking space at her flats. The builders (will be there for months) have set up in such a way the space cannot be accessed.

SHE HAS SAID NOTHING TO THEM OR THE. MANAGING AGENT.

Thats where this attitude ends up.

Falifornia · 12/08/2022 22:46

@Heleena five quid says in 10 years' time she'll let her neighbour's builders erect their scaffolding across her patio all Summer. We need to stage an intervention!
