About builders on a construction site building flats near my local business behaving inappropriately? Below is a screenshot of the complaint email i sent to the developers as well as the contractors. Also does anyone know the head office number for Torus housing please as they are ones building the flats at this site? I’ve tried the customer care phone number and they’ve not been very helpful

WIBU to complain about these builders?

I’ve crossed out my phone number and name on the screenshots

That’s disgraceful! Definitely complain.

Any chance they’ve got a ‘considerate constructors’ sign up? You can report to them too

POTC · 11/08/2022 12:52

If they're shouting racist abuse report them to the police!

The foreman on site was quite rude too and very aggressive. Attached a photo of the signage which shows the considerate constructors sign. How do I report to them?

I’m on the verge of reporting them to the police

According to the CPS on Monday, they intend to prosecute such cases... So I would phone the police and get everyone to do the same thing. If people don't report these crimes - and they are crimes - then they will continue to get away with it.

Moobear22 · 11/08/2022 12:55

You should report them to police if they are shouting racist abuse

CreateIn · 11/08/2022 12:55

Yes, absolutely.

Can you write down the times, dates, exact location and details of each incident you witnessed?

I'd contact the police about the racism and threats of violence you witnessed.

Is it a volume developer who might be in the National Housebuilder’s Federation?

Glitterbiscuits · 11/08/2022 12:56

This is one of those times when I'd involve the local paper

Ah glad to see this OP!

They obviously think they're invincible.

Erm not too sure to be honest. The companies concerned are on the signage. I’ll attach the image again

I was discussing doing this with a few other local business this morning if the constructors don’t respond to the complaint email properly

Also, racist abuse should be reported to the police. You can ask to remain anonymous when you report but this should be a police matter.

Yes we have CCTV in our business too. Will contact the police if the complaint to the constructors and the considerate constructors people isn’t dealt with properly

Going to ring considerate constructors now

Definitely report the racist abuse to the police. There was a plea from our local police force for witnesses to a racial abuse incident a few weeks back, shows they do take it seriously

youspinmerightround22 · 11/08/2022 13:03

Torus Homes. 0800 678 1894. This is the number for the housing association side but they should be able to pass you through or request a call back from someone.

Yeah I’ve rang that and they weren’t very helpful, I was hoping to get a head office number for Torus and try and get passed through to someone that way

Are they part of the considerate constructors scheme? I made a complaint via them a couple of years ago and was blown away by the amazing support and response I received

A quick Google search has shown that Steve Coffey is group CEO. I'm sure if you do a deeper Google search you'll find his email or similar.

FWIW- I always go to the top of the hierarchy as it seems to get better results (I used to handle complaint letters addressed to the CEO of a water company).

This ^ And if you can find him on Twitter and do a public tweet, even better.
