What advice would you give to yourself if you could go back in time?

OP posts:
Bringon2023 · 10/08/2022 15:16

Get on the property ladder ten years ago instead of wasting money renting.

emerald7 · 10/08/2022 15:17

Stop caring what other people think of you and do what makes you happy.

ReneBumsWombats · 10/08/2022 15:29

Hit him back.

This. And save more.

romdowa · 10/08/2022 15:38

Not to worry so much and that it will all fall into place eventually

barbrahunter · 10/08/2022 15:39

Study hard
Ignore the sneering of your unpleasant parents
Do not marry him

Quitelikeit · 10/08/2022 15:39

go into a career where you can earn 80k plus! Seems to be needed to live a comfortable life these days!!!

marry a man you want your son to become and fgs don’t get married or pregnant until you have known someone at least 3 years!

usually after 2 their real self begins to emerge, certainly won’t have emerged under 1 year!!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 10/08/2022 15:40

Travel, go out, lie in, have fun, do things for you.

nokidshere · 10/08/2022 15:42

What's the point in giving advice to your younger self? It's not like you can do anything about it now.

On the other hand I give advice to my sons based on hindsight from my own experiences in the hopes that they might avoid the same mistakes.

MumofSpud · 10/08/2022 15:45

Redo your Maths GCSE straightaway

heddgiemum · 10/08/2022 15:45

Buy that house in London.

TheBirdintheCave · 10/08/2022 15:47

You're autistic. Get a diagnosis as a child or you'll spend your whole young adult life not understanding why you don't fit in.

Stick with art rather than writing. You're good at both but graphic design is a better career path and it took me too long to work that out.

ItWasJustifiedHeWasACunt · 10/08/2022 15:53

Dump him. He's a cunt, he doesn't love you and brings absolutely nothing to your life whatsoever.

IfOn · 10/08/2022 15:54

emerald7 · 10/08/2022 15:17

This

SquirrelFan · 10/08/2022 16:01

Invest
Budget
Use a condom
Learn a language
Prepare for the future, it will get here anyway, you might as well make it a better one

Leafblow · 10/08/2022 16:14

You just don't suit a fringe.

Those fancy pants will give you thrush

Using toilet cleaner with bleach will not unblock the mess your flatmate made with the sink- it will make chlorine gas and trying to fix that is a terrible way to spend an evening

Horoscopegubbins · 10/08/2022 16:17

Find your voice quicker and tell everyone to shite off. Don't put up with abuse. Stop trying to please people. Keep trying to be a journalist - go for TV rather than print.

KohlaParasaurus · 10/08/2022 16:20

You think you know a lot, but you have no idea how much you don't know and you could learn a lot even from people you dismiss as stupid. Remember that you have two ears and one mouth for a reason.

chickma · 10/08/2022 16:23

There's no rush to have a baby, wait a few more years. And don't save all your money for that baby, go out and do things, go on some holidays, have some fun!

Plantstrees · 10/08/2022 16:28

Don't marry him, you can do better.

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 10/08/2022 16:31

You are more likely to regret sleeping with a guy than not sleeping with him.

Feelinglow27 · 10/08/2022 16:33

Trust your gut

Namerchangerextraordinaire · 10/08/2022 16:43

Having a pension when you are 18 & always paying into it is a GOOD thing.
Before you know it, you'll be 50 & it's all a bit late then.

Don't wait to do things until you're older or retired.
Do them soon, because you might not even be healthy enough to do them next year - you never know what will happen to you in the future.

Take risks when you are young - everyone gives you more chances when you are younger than when you are older.
Write the book, go for the promotion, take the gap year, start the business etc..

Debt will wreck you & you'll be paying it back until you have crowsfeet so try to avoid it.

Everything is easier to do before you have kids.

AluckyEllie · 10/08/2022 16:59

Don’t do nursing- do something where you’ll earn 50k+.
Go travelling early 30’s with him rather than buying a house because you felt you should be doing grown up things.
Find a sport you like and keep it up.
Have a target weight and get strict about keeping to it so you don’t yo-yo and end up fat and unhealthy.

Sunnysideup999 · 10/08/2022 17:35

Pay into a pension as early as you can .
Get on the housing ladder as early as you can.
Never be talked down to by a man.
Never, EVER be made to feel inferior.
Answer back.
Go make mistakes!
