All too much in this heat

midnight64 · 09/08/2022 16:41

Menopausal.
Freelance but no work.
Kids at home (feeling too hot to play with anything as house is 28 degrees and garden boiling too)
DH working from home and although he is working, he likes to get involved in everything going on.
Packing for holiday so stuff is everywhere.
I'm teary and irritable.
Another walk around Morrison's chilled aisle? 😂

At least he's around. Just want this heat to do one!

I’m finding it too much too. I’ve got shingles, albeit mildly, and feel so uncomfortable.

girlfrien · 09/08/2022 16:45

Will be saying the same when winters here. Its to cold, can't get warm, can't afford the bills. All the seasons come and go.

MonthofMondays · 09/08/2022 16:49

Snap - also teary, and supposed to be getting ready for holiday at the weekend.
Girlfrien - I don't mind winter, can put a jumper on or go under a blanket etc. Unfortunately the heat really gets to me and I just can't cope.

midnight64 · 09/08/2022 16:52

I've got heat rash all over my face too. I suppose I find it easier to warm up over the winter than cool down over the summer. It's like a constant battle to keep myself and the house cool!

I've had to rearrange plans and also feel trapped by the heat now.
Too hot to go outside, can't take DC anywhere.
It's really annoying.

VenusClapTrap · 09/08/2022 17:03

I spent all morning outside in it, cutting the long grass in the orchard, so now I’ve got a migraine. I want the heat to end and am desperate for rain, but I have to get all the damn grass cut before the weather breaks so the pressure is on. Feeling guilty for not taking the kids to the beach or an outdoor pool or something, but they’ll all be rammed anyway.

GirlInACountrySong · 09/08/2022 17:11

I'm at work

In a tin hut warehouse. Huge delivery to put away ( manually) customers who suddenly can't lift anything as 'it's so hot in here'
No air con obvs

At least you are at home with no heavy boxes waiting for you to shift them

Lovingtheglitter · 09/08/2022 17:14

I'm a cook in a care home with no air con - I melt every day - counting down til this heat wave is over!

crimsonlake · 09/08/2022 17:18

I work in a care home on the activities side, roasting hot and still wearing a mask.It would be nice to have a holiday to look forward to tbh.

FangsForTheMemory · 09/08/2022 17:20

I've got a bug that has given me sinus pain and a headache for the past week, testing negative for COVID though; I ate something that upset my insides earlier. The cat is nagging to go out/come in. It's too hot in the garden and I'm sick of being in the house.

You have grass? We last cut ours in early June. It's been dead since before the last heatwave.

I called myself on Teams so I could nip off and have a shower at 3pm to cool down. Then I put on a sundress that is not safe for work and kept my camera off for the rest of the afternoon.

Sunnyqueen · 09/08/2022 17:46

I love summer and the heat, hotter the better. Soak that vit d up before it turns to 6 months of pissing rain, cold dark misery again .

I should probably add I have severe SAD 😂 so I really can't get my head round people complaining about good weather

VenusClapTrap · 09/08/2022 17:53

I only cut it once a year, in August. I’d call it a meadow but that’s giving it airs and graces it doesn’t possess - it’s just long grass. Completely brown and dry like a hay field, but it has to be cut while dry as once it rains and it goes soggy it’s a nightmare to deal with. We’re forecast to have storms on Monday so I need to spend every day of the heatwave cutting it - Oof.

Lottapianos · 09/08/2022 17:56

'I love summer and the heat, hotter the better'

I have to ask - do you not sweat? Seriously. I've been working in my suntrap kitchen all day with doors open, and I'm like a damp rag. And it's only going to get hotter over the next few days!

Maireas · 09/08/2022 17:56

Go to the M&S foodhall and browse.
Then treat yourself to some of their Cornish ice cream 😉

neverbeenskiing · 09/08/2022 17:58

I'm with you OP. I've been put into drug-induced menopause to prepare me for a hysterectomy but can't start HRT yet and the hot flushes are hideous, in this heat it's really enough to make you miserable. I can't sleep because its too hot and the combination of tiredness and hormones is making me very teary and irritable, but I'm trying to put on a brave face for the DC as they're too young to understand.

InTheCup · 09/08/2022 18:06

I'm booking back in to a prem Inn this weekend. Can't stand it.

Wait wait wait, you can call yourself in teams?!

GigantosaurusRex · 09/08/2022 18:20

I am overweight, perimenopausal and camping. I cannot cope with the heat and the wasps here are going to finish me off!

dontwanttooverreact · 09/08/2022 18:24

I have a colicky Velcro baby on me the whole time. With hot and bothered small children demanding attention. It’s like a loud hot water bottle and they are the accompanying chorus 🤪

Or just set your status to 'Busy', the solid red one, which makes it look like you're in a call...

SavingsThreads · 09/08/2022 18:59

Or just leave your computer doing a task eg video on YouTube, playing Spotify etc and it stays green

This is an absolute revelation. Been using Teams for 2 years and did not know playing a vid or song could keep the green light from turning orange!

EmmaH2022 · 09/08/2022 19:49

But why would you call yourself on Teams? Confused.
