Menopausal.
Freelance but no work.
Kids at home (feeling too hot to play with anything as house is 28 degrees and garden boiling too)
DH working from home and although he is working, he likes to get involved in everything going on.
Packing for holiday so stuff is everywhere.
I'm teary and irritable.
Another walk around Morrison's chilled aisle? 😂

I’m over the heat now. It makes me tired, sweaty and irritable and just makes everything feel more difficult.

Roll on autumn. I definitely won’t be complaining this winter, I love winter, you can always put another jumper or blanket on and snuggle up.

justtwocornettos · 09/08/2022 21:33

Also, when the kids play up, he doesn't put on the adult voice and tell them straight that they've been naughty. He'll say in a soft, normal voice 'we don't do that...ok?' and walk away from them.
I then feel I have to step in and give the proper, firm talk to them as there's no authority coming from him. So to top it all off, I'm the bad sweaty cop tonight as well.

DuringDinnerMints · 09/08/2022 21:58

I have a pain condition which means I sleep under an electric throw blanket in all temperatures. It's bloody unbearable at the moment!

Pheobe863 · 09/08/2022 22:06

I'm with you. I hate this weather. I actually really love rainy, overcast days where I can wear a jumper and a coat. When people refer to 30 degree heat as "nice weather" I always reply ummm in your opinion it's nice!! Personally I find it disgusting! Feel like a right spoilsport because it feels like everyone loves summer weather but I can't understand why feeling sweaty is considered pleasant!

TheLostNights · 09/08/2022 22:11

You are not being unreasonable. Could cry when I look at the temperatures over the next few days. 33-34C for 4 days running. It's been like this for weeks, so fed up it's untrue and felt sick today because of this stifling heat. Bloody awful.

Wolfiee · 09/08/2022 22:27

I’ve been the same. Got home from work at lunch time, plonked my arse on the sofa and have barely moved since. It’s just too hot, I feel dizzy everytime I stand up. I’ve tried to do little jobs here and there but everytime I’ve just felt too exhausted. Feel like crying to be honest. Roll on Autumn

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 10/08/2022 00:05

Awful. We came to Scotland on holiday partly to avoid the heat. Not the 32 of where we live, but still 28 and unpleasant. In a nice hotel but the air con is piss poor. Had to go and buy some fans today as the room is a sealed unit because the "climate control" is meant to work. I've got lupus and fibromyalgia and whilst I don't like the heat (and often get migraines in if) it feels like it has been worse than ever this year and my body just can't cope with it. I am permanently so hot that I feel like my brain might boil in my head. It's making me irritable and fed up... I feel like I can't think in it.

chilliesandspices · 10/08/2022 06:59

Wait wait wait, you can call yourself in teams?!

Well not quite call myself, I set up a meeting with my personal email as the only invitee and jump in there where I need it. Setting to busy doesn't stop people calling me so I need a good excuse not to respond.

whatisforteamum · 10/08/2022 07:08

I love the summer.55 yr old chef here heaving lifting and rushing around pad everyone came all day and I worked a 930 to 1030 shift.
I'm used to it but I would love the windows open.
I get S A D in the winter quite bad and the cold is hideous so I would rather be happy than depressed.

Sunnyqueen · 10/08/2022 07:13

Plus this year when the energy bills are going to go up so much I probably will hardly be able to afford christmas and birthday presents for the kids, it's just going to be all round shit by the end of November.

MintJulia · 10/08/2022 07:22

I love the summer too. I'm wfh, in the kitchen (tile floor) with the french windows open. If it gets a bit warm, my sitting room is shaded by a huge tree at the north side of the house and is always cooler.

No wonder some companies want people back in the office.

ilovesooty · 10/08/2022 07:26

And I love the weather too.

Oh I see! Thanks, I get it now.

endofthelinefinally · 10/08/2022 08:09

When you can sit down, wring out a towel and drape it round your shoulders as a cape/ shawl. It really works. When you go to bed, drape a wrung out towel over you instead of a dry sheet.

chilliesandspices · 10/08/2022 08:09

I do work in the office too and when I'm there I can take myself away to a meeting room to get my head into complicated work. My manager can see I'm working so that's fine. When I'm at home, if my status goes to away for 5 minutes because I've been looking at paperwork she pops up on teams to ask if I'm ok. I don't feel guilty about a 5 minute shower, they get hours of free work out of me every month.

Isn't it easier to just block your calendar as though you're in a meeting and then use the 'Do not disturb' status as though you're presenting?

That stops calls.

DobbleKnobble · 10/08/2022 08:33

I am struggling in this heat too, I’m finding it more uncomfortable than the last heatwave! I feel like a feeble idiot 😂

I'm currently working 7am - 7pm and half a day on Saturdays when my contract is 9-5.30pm.

I don't take lunch or loo breaks.

I was supposed to be on leave yesterday and the day before and cancelled them because I have too much work to do.

So I haven't had a shower to cool down but if I wanted to I wouldn't exactly feel guilty!

Will be saying the same when winters here. Its to cold, can't get warm, can't afford the bills. All the seasons come and go.

At least moving round in winter gets you warm 🙃

Having to do anything in a heat wave is unbearable
