BMI of 30, want to lose weight to get to healthy BMI. Has anyone lost that amount of weight in that time frame? Or am I totally unrealistic? If you managed it how did you do it?

Start with 16:8 (mostly asleep!)
When ready switch to 18:6
Do your TDEE and minus 500kcal
plenty of protein, fats and veggies
Try and up your walking
10 mins with light weights.
Totally doable & do it when you're still "young". It gets harder...

cheeseisthebest · 08/08/2022 20:55

How do I work out my TDEE?

steff13 · 08/08/2022 20:57

I've lost 47 lbs since April 24th. That's 3.3 stone, I think. I think a stone is 14 lbs.

Partypoooooper · 08/08/2022 21:00

I've lost 2 stone 8 since mid January, 5 more pounds to go to be at 10 stone 🙂 believe in yourself and you will do it, have a main goal but split it down, aim for half a stone first and so on.

Pollyforever · 08/08/2022 21:14

More inspiring posts thank you and well done!

Definitely you can! I did similar last year with WW and exercise. Started in Feb, had lost over 4 1/2 stone by Jan, but the final stone took the last 6 months of that time. I've since put half a stone back on, but am happy with that, because it's proving to be a 'comfortable' weight that is much easier to maintain. BMI went from 31 to 21.5, but I've settled happily at 22. So go for it - you definitely have time and can do it!

Aleeza91 · 08/08/2022 21:42

I lost 3 stone in 2 months.
Baring in mind, a lot of my weight was in my stomach so I had the excess weight.

I stopped all fizzy drinks, drank strictly water

Intermittent fasted until 2pm (I'm not a breakfast person anyway) had a chicken salad.
Then whatever I cooked for dinner time at 6pm. Usually vegetarian dishes with a cup of rice (afghan dishes, courgettes, aubergines etc)

No snacks at all, just maybe a apple or banana .

Lots of green tea!
I also did 5000 steps a day and 3/4 hours of swimming per week.

It's stayed off for 6 months now and I'm currently eating a little bit more than that! But I feel amazing!

So it's definitely doable by end of the year!

fishonabicycle · 08/08/2022 21:47

Why does it have to be a specific amount in a specific time frame? Just start eating a sensible diet, do a bit of exercise and see where you get to. Setting a time like that might just make you give up if you find it hard to achieve.

Pollyforever · 08/08/2022 21:53

@fishonabicycle I've explained up thread why the amount and the time frame. I need something to focus on to give me a kick up the arse basically.

Can I join too please.

I have 4 stone to lose but 3 would do!

Pollyforever · 08/08/2022 22:43

Absolutely! I've put a link to the thread I've started in weightloss x

Started in feb, just eating better moving a bit more, but we moved house went on holiday etc so lots of time off from the diet as well
no Calorie counting and I’ve just hit 2.5 stone off
started at a similar bmi
So I think if you did it a bit more seriously than me you could definitely do 3 stone

LadyMaid · 08/08/2022 22:47

You can do it.

Try intermittent fasting and see if it suits you.

Some people find it easier to fast than swap out their regular food items with lower calorie ones.

Good luck. You will do great.

This.
I followed Intermittent Fasting and reducing carbs, managed to lose 2.5stone relatively quickly.
It really does work and the belief that it's a 'crash diet' doesn't really hold up to the most recent research. Michael Moseley or Jason Fung are good to read to understand mechanics of it

Lalliella · 08/08/2022 23:26

Following! I want to lose 3 stone too!

fruitstick · 09/08/2022 08:31

Also my dog had an operation yesterday so I've had to carry him in and out of the car.

He's 15kg and bloody heavy! I'm carrying double that about!

bedraggles · 10/08/2022 01:44

Currently 12st12 and as yet only one person has commented and I’ve lost 20lb. When will people notice/dare to comment?!

want to get to 9st 7, I think.

bedraggles · 10/08/2022 01:51

Definitely hard boiled eggs as a snack and cutting down on carbs has worked for me. Also having a crush, but that has now been crushed so will have to be careful not to eat my feelings :(

Thatnameistaken · 10/08/2022 06:36

Michael Mosley's fast 800 worked for me and my partner, if you can afford the online course then do that.
We started the 12 week course in April 2021, I went from 13st 5lb to 11st 3, and he dropped from 15st5 to 11st12 by the August.
Amazingly we're still at our target weights a year on, we eat out, have treats but it totally changed our habits around snacking and overeating.

Thatnameistaken · 10/08/2022 06:39

10st 3 that should be ^

thebear1 · 10/08/2022 09:31

I will be giving it a go too, 5 years ago I got to target with sw, but have slowly put on the majority of that loss, will be calorie counting this time.
