So DH and I have booked a holiday and when we have got here there is no children's entertainment, I mean, literally nothing. Please tell me what you would do in this situation, website states there are day time activities and children's entertainment daily?

TheGetaway · 07/08/2022 21:39

Entertain them myself?

Sunnyqueen · 07/08/2022 21:41

I've never used children's entertainment on holiday personally when I've been abroad with mine

Crinkle77 · 07/08/2022 21:42

Can't you entertain your own children?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 07/08/2022 21:43

Cause a fuss. Ask for a partial refund. Entertain them myself. Potentially throw money at it.

XelaM · 07/08/2022 21:43

Pool/beach/food/shopping for souvenirs

Allthecoloursoftherainbow · 07/08/2022 21:45

For goodness sake OP clearly isn't asking how to entertain her own children. The point is that something that was sold to them wasn't the case on arrival.

Did you book through an agency or comparison website or anything that you could contact? I'd kick up a fuss and try and get some money back, or a room upgrade at the very least

Nicknacky · 07/08/2022 21:49

Some people are so obnoxious on here. I can entertain my kids just fine but if I were to book a break that clearly says there would be kids activities and activities and there wasn’t, I would be pissed off.

Lockheart · 07/08/2022 21:50

Is this really a "please help" situation? It's hardly the end of the world is it?

Jaiho · 07/08/2022 21:51

I am talking about in the evening when there should be a mini disco etc. my kids have loved that on previous holidays and I would t have booked it if it didn’t have that facility.

OP posts:
Youdoyoutoday · 07/08/2022 21:53

Speak to the staff there?

AllFreeOwls · 07/08/2022 21:53

Can you complain to the front desk? If they've advertised children's facilities then they need to prove them

AllFreeOwls · 07/08/2022 21:53

*provide

StoneofDestiny · 07/08/2022 21:54

Complain to the holiday company insist on a partial refund as you haven't got what you paid for

Soproudoflionesses · 07/08/2022 21:54

That is rubbish op, you have been mis sold.
How old are the children?

Whattodoaboutworknow · 07/08/2022 21:54

Ex rep here, are you UK or abroad?

And have you checked the T&Cs?

londongirl12 · 07/08/2022 21:55

Have you asked them why??

Youdoyoutoday · 07/08/2022 21:55

Sorry posted to soon...

Where is the manager/booking rep or whatever to speak to?

Where are you? Could you relocate if its a package holiday type thing?

Itloggedmeoutagain · 07/08/2022 21:55

Your OP says daytime but your other post says evening. If the site says there are daytime activities but there's no mention of children's disco then there's not much cause for complaint.
Are you isolated? Can you go to another hotel for their disco?

FrownedUpon · 07/08/2022 21:58

It’s not great, but it isn’t really a “please help” situation. Just find other stuff to do, I’m sure you’ll manage.

hartof · 07/08/2022 22:01

Are you sure it was advertised as having kids entertainment? If so speak to the rep tell them you're not happy.

WonderingWanda · 07/08/2022 22:32

Go to another hotel for the evening entertainment, go out to some bars / reataurants. For the daytime buy them an inflatable and put them in the pool.

BigChesterDraws · 07/08/2022 22:49

“Day time activities” and “children’s entertainment” are very genetic terms and may mean nothing more than a table with crayons and colouring books. Did it specifically say that there is a mini disco? Or were there pictures on the hotel’s website of children in a disco? Unless it specifically said what the facilities are you have made an assumption that may be wrong.

Jaiho · 08/08/2022 09:03

Yes, the title is dramatic I apologise about that. It states there is a mini disco for kids which my daughter was really looking forward to. The comment about me entertaining them myself is just silly, obviously I can do that but I wanted them to have the mini disco experience as I have a lot of fond memories of that myself as a child and it made my holidays.

OP posts:
Jaiho · 08/08/2022 09:04

The rep said there should be a mini disco and reception staff promised me that I have a new animation team coming and it was supposed to be on last night but it wasn’t. We have been taking them to a play area and they are having fun but I’m just a bit disappointed.

OP posts:
Thethreecs · 08/08/2022 09:12

If your holiday has been advertised as having these you need to go to reception and ask why they are not. Preferably print out where you seen these things advertised. If you have a rep ask them too. Making your 'complaint' known now will benefit you when you get home and if you decide to look for a partial refund.

I've been to places where some things have been cancelled due to staff shortages or not enough kids to fill them. That's why asking at reception is best.

It's rubbish when you are expecting something and it's not available, it's not that you can't entertain them yourself, of course you can, it's just sometimes kids are looking forward to a certain thing no matter how small and it's not available.
