to ask how long you were on OLD before you met your partner?

I was wondering how long it has taken people to find a past/current partner using a dating app? I was on dating apps for 3 months last year and couldn't meet anyone decent. I grew tired of talking to timewasters and weirdos, I just deleted the apps. Perhaps I gave up too soon.

How long did it take you to meet a partner on dating apps?

3 months isn’t long at all I haven’t tried old myself but most people I know that did it took ages! Some years

Iusedtobedontcall · 02/08/2022 20:57

I was online dating from 2013 and had some short term disastrous relationships but I met DH in January 2018 and we are very happy. It was worth it for me - I was a single parent to 3 dc and would never have met anyone otherwise.

Garysparrowsthirdwife · 02/08/2022 21:00

About 4 years on and off-so possibly about a year over those 4
i tried different ones and finally met dp

Ohahjustalittlebit · 02/08/2022 21:22

5 weeks from opening the account to closing the account as on date one I knew. We are so super happy since last year and all going well. We are both mid' 40's if that helps.

QuizzlyBears · 02/08/2022 21:27

3 months, together over 2 years and engaged now. I knew immediately despite thinking I was going for a casual walk!

RSitf · 02/08/2022 21:38

Ah this thread gives me hope! First time I went on it was about 8m until I met someone supposedly decent..together 5.5yrs. Now I’m back to square one so fingers crossed when I do venture back on

fibeee · 02/08/2022 21:47

3 months and then I met my now DH.

houseofboy · 02/08/2022 21:49

About a year but in that time was with someone for 3 months so came off then went back on, met my now DH when I had decided to stop and even when I first met him thought he would make a great friend but wasn't sure after the first date of it would be more. That changed a few dates in and been together 8 years and had 2 dc, best thing I ever did.

Stickworm · 02/08/2022 21:52

I thought ‘OLD’ was a snazzy new dating app for older people - just realise what it stands for 🤣

HelloCanYouHearMe · 02/08/2022 21:53

2 years on and off

kegofcoffee · 02/08/2022 21:54

About 2-3 days, then married the first person I went on a date with.

My I'm definitely an exception, some friends spent years OLD before finding someone.

Ginger1982 · 02/08/2022 21:57

A good couple of years until I met DH.

Scuttlingherbert · 02/08/2022 22:01

July 2016 to May 2018. Some off periods when was with someone or having a break

mawofone · 02/08/2022 22:05

I started talking to him within a day of opening my account. Met him 4 weeks later. Been together 15 years and married 11. I was 25 when I met him!

torquewench · 02/08/2022 22:06

My ex has been on a couple (PoF and Zoosk) on and off since 2015, so evidently he's still being thrown back ....

monsterastuckiosa · 02/08/2022 22:09

3 weeks. SUPER disappointed – I joined in order to have some fun and play the field for a year or so, and then along came DP and ruined it all 😂

JamSandwich89 · 02/08/2022 22:09

Hmm... six months. I think you gave up quite quickly, but I also understand why! Some of the responses I use to get were... memorable to say the least 😂

watermelonlipbalm · 02/08/2022 22:16

Which websites would you say are the best and most secure to go on?

@watermelonlipbalm I was on tinder which wasn't very secure haha. Perhaps you could try a paid site like Elite Singles. There might be a better quality of match on there

About 3 years on and off before I met DH. I didn’t go on that many dates though.

Topjoe19 · 03/08/2022 20:05

A month then met my now DH. I almost came off it after a few weeks due to a weirdo and a couple of rubbish dates. My now DH was my third date and it's been 9 years together & 2 DC! There is hope!

stillvicarinatutu · 03/08/2022 20:07

Well I'm coming up to 2.5 years and no joy but I gave up on paid sites after 6 months realising the same people were in freebies.

I'm only on bumble now . Still trying

Bluebell1234 · 03/08/2022 20:10

Wow, some lovely stories of hitting the jackpot. I’ve been on since Jan 2018 but had several relationships in that time (9 months to 18 months) so it’s not been non stop but it’s feeling pretty relentless now.

Beanniebaby22 · 03/08/2022 20:14

3 years on and off. Met my current DP on tinder in 2018 went on a few dates, he was keen, I wasn’t so sure, we went our separate ways. Never forgot him, lots of awful dates after him and always thought of him as the one that got away.
Then in 2020 he messaged me out of the blue, we met up again and have been together ever since! Expecting our first baby at the end of this year 😊
There is hope!

QueSyrahSyrah · 03/08/2022 20:16

A couple of years on and off. I found him the day I came back from holiday and logged back in to delete my apps (for a break from them, not because I had met someone).

We're married now.
